With the inaugural outing on Vivrant in the ‘Taiga’ EP making the number 1 spot on Beatport’s Top 100 Progressive releases chart and number 2 overall, Jeremy Olander set the tone for his new imprint in a big way.

Hellbent on exceeding expectations with every drop on Vivrant and staying true to his word of using his new platform to do whatever he wants, Jeremy has decided to, at last, let his Dhillon monicker out of his proverbial cage. 

With a darker and more drum-oriented sound, Dhillon was last sighted on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and the highly regarded A-Sides compilation series. With back-to-back appearances in 2013 and 2014 with ‘Layerleaf’ and ‘Lost’ respectively, Dhillon now makes a much anticipated return with a first-ever three-track offering in the ‘Intro’ EP. 

Comprised of saw tooth bass-laden and groovy opener ’Intro’, forceful peak-time banger ‘Umbra’ and dark, sinister ‘Black Widoe’, the EP is a diverse yet cohesive body of work. It demonstrates Olander’s unearthly ability to seamlessly float between styles and adds to an already awe-inspiring resumé that looks like one of a hardened veteran, not a 28 year old vowing he’s only starting to get his feet wet.

Illyus & Barrientos hit Cr2 later this month (29th July) with a huge remix of Michael Mandas & Forbes’ ‘Really Love’, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere of it.

The pair first caught the attention of the Macs and Tongs of the world with their ‘Need Me’ EP on Glasgow Underground last year, before going on to see releases through Suara, Toolroom and Exploited Records already in 2016.

For their remix of ‘Really Love’ Illyus & Barrientos employ skittish percussion with heavy kicks, wallowing basslines and sparing use of the original’s vocal track.

Hot on the heels of the A-Sides Volume 5 compilation, Enrico Sangiuliano makes his return to Drumcode with his highly anticipated EP ‘Moon Rocks’. The heavy hitting four track EP shines a light on Sangiuliano’s tight, thundering production skills. The hoover heavy lead track ‘Moon Rocks’ is packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos. The EP encapsulates Sangiuliano’s wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the fat bass line of ‘Moon Rocks’ to the more delicate harmonies shown within the ‘Dutch Kiss’ mixes whilst ‘Ghettoblaster’ sits somewhere in between.

Glasgow Underground’s latest features two new jams from the creators of our Guilty Pleasure track of the year so far. The Bill Withers penned ”Who Is He (And What Is He To You)" is one of our favourite club songs (the Meshell Ndegeocello / Danny Tenaglia version is also wicked) and Alaia & Gallo’s new version is perfect sunshine dancing material. Fresh from their success with that, the guys have delivered these two club-ready crackers. 

"Pushin' from The Walls" is a proper house groove with a tough jacking bassline, floor-filling vocals and loads of percussive fx and wonky noises.  If you like John Tejada's "Sweat (On The Walls)" then this will be for you. Kevin McKay delivers a deeper take that hints at classic organ-house such as Jaydee, Feel The Drums or The African Dream without actually getting his M1 organ out (as I think we can all agree that's been DONE!). According to Kevin, he “imagined himself on the Sub Club dancefloor at 1am and thought about the record he’d most like Harri to play next.”

"For Me" is just as DJ-friendly but delivers a more musical experience, its string hooks and hypnotic vocals reminding me of the glorious King Britt Remix of Josh One’s “Contemplation”.

Now in its second decade, with a steady stream of the most forward thinking and cutting edge techno productions, Drumcode has one of the biggest selections of releases from industry heavy hitters, whilst not forgetting its future by bringing the newest talented producers into the limelight, where Layton Giordani is now a name firmly within that line up.

The New York born, but now EU based producer first had recognition back in 2014, and his debut release came via Drumcode with his track “Rivington” on the A-Sides Vol5 compilation in 2016.

Full force into 2017, Drumcode has announced the release of Layton’s debut album with “Where It Begins” this February. Consisting of 12 original tracks, the album packs a punch when it comes to no-nonsense techno. Successfully weaving relentless drums and catchy vocal hooks into a selection of thick, brooding, atmospheric tracks.

Teasing us with a sample, Drumcode has released “Good Violence” – thumping from the get-go in true Drumcode fashion, this track is a pure dance floor destroyer. Laced in some heavy low end power, slapping percussion and a hypnotic synth pad to build up that late night tension just right.
