After six years of graft I finally hit a million plays on my profile, so here's something special that I've been sat on for a while. Easily one of my favourite mixes from the pandemic era, Astro Jungle Part 1 (inspired by/cunningly plagiarised Aldi-style from @kolanut's Space Mix) was recorded back in October 2020 and left to mature gracefully, like a fine cosmic claret. Naff and Animalia once again join forces to present a collaboration between OK EG and Priori. The project began with a session at the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio, where initial sonic experiments took shape. These were later developed into four interconnected movements—each crafted to feel both weightless and propulsive. The result is four high-speed, hypnotic dance pieces, best described as ‘feather-tech.

We are so happy to kick our Podcast Series back into gear with a long anticipated recording from the UK-based duo Plantera called 'Cosmozoa' ~ based on theories of intergalactic spores transferring life to other planets 🌱

I met Lewis and Mason last year at the intimate Sonic Rites gathering, nestled in the wilds of the beautiful Welsh countryside. Smitten by their soothing afternoon set, I knew I needed to approach them and ask if they’d be keen to record a mix for the series ~ and they said yes 💍

So here it is, a magical musical offering born out of synergy between two close friends sharing deep understanding of and passion for music that touches the soul and soothes the mind. And what better time to dial
in this hour and a half journey than after the long weekend of Bank holiday frolics. Sit back, close your eyes and let it take you on a comic ride through soft edged ambient and downtempo psychedelia 💫

The guys also shared a little message for us too to accompany the mix: “Join us on this journey of cosmozoa; ejected into the ether from unknown coordinates, floating aimlessly through primordial dust until being grasped into the orbit of Plantera - gliding through the atmospheric haze before breaking out into blissful serenity, absorbing the sights and sounds of this unfamiliar world while sailing on it's winds"

Podcast Series 53 | 'Cosmozoa' by Plantera

Pink Noise emerges from an intimate recording of the artist's vaginal milieu, captured with a self-crafted microphone. The subtle, haunting sounds of her body’s infection with the human papillomavirus. An unseen transformation altering the cellular landscape of her cervix. The visceral tones unveil both the vulnerability and the quiet resilience of a queer, migrant body navigating its existence. 
Banu exposes a deep connection to the rhythms of her body while illuminating the pervasive yet often unspoken truths of one of the most common sexually transmitted infections. It is an act of confronting stigma and raises awareness of systemic inequities within the healthcare system in Germany. 
Pink Noise is the sonic manifestation and interpretation of Banu's sound installation and solo exhibition at Galerie im Turm in Berlin in 2023.

Jonathan Fitoussi & Clemens Hourrière - Moonish Landscapes

Sydney-based DJ and radio host Andy Garvey is a real go-getter. Having been a regular fixture on the Australian airwaves for many years now, hosting shows Spin The Bottle and Future Classics on FBi Radio and Triple J's Mix Up and Friday Mix, her radio skills have also given her a home on Amsterdam's Red Light Radio with her Pure Space show.

She's given her new label the same name, which launched at the beginning of this month with a four track V/A including contributions from E Davd, Reptant, Point Guard and Daze. Musically cruising through breakbeat, electro and techno, it's representative of Andy's tastes as a DJ and as a producer — her debut release Eternal Recurrence has just come out on Lobster Theremin. 

Fresh off the back of her first Boiler Room appearance at Pitch Music and Arts festival, we are hyped to have her at the controls for our Wednesday Alternative mix, a deep dive into her leftfield, experimental tastes... 

Keep your eye on Andy, she's definitely a name you'll be hearing more of in future.
