They say that one man's trash is another man's treasure: that was certainly true of today's find. The streets were lined with cardboard boxes and tables, some neatly organised and labeled, others thrown together in a hasty mess. Trinkets, books, photos and old clothes were amongst the sea of unwanted items that cluttered the tables; to the untrained eye most would never have made that golden discovery. But for him, this was the missing part of a puzzle that he'd started long ago. 

The last year or two has been very fruitful for Rotterdam-based duo Black Cadmium. Since their debut solo EP on Ovum Recordings, they've dropped music for Vault Wax and Violet's Naive imprint, channeling their love of Detroit and London sounds into their output. Now they make their way to Wanderist's Transient Nature imprint, the label set up by one half of Dam Swindle, Marteen Smeets, to spotlight the best in machine funk, techno and everything in between. Like Black Cadmium's previous releases, the four tracks on ‘Inertia’ bridge sounds and eras, encompassing electro grooves, twilight house jams and dreamy acid cuts.

We are starting the New Year with a banging mix by Hanna Baertig. She is part of "Aller Ende Anfang" a rad independant label and party crew from Berlin hosting parties at some great locations pushing a sound we feel connected to.

This mix is a bit on the heavier side of our spectrum but yet again a voyage in itself and perfect for us. Hanna has been busy playing parties and sharing her sonic vibes since 2018 and is without doubt a great DJ as you'll be able to tell. She is definately someone to have on your radar!  

Hanna about her mixed feelings:

What motivated me to create this mix are the memories of countless light-hearted nights on packed dancefloors and the hope that one day we will be hopefully able to dance together again in a truly carefree way. Therefore I tried to create a contrast between peak time bass bangers and dreamy melancholic beats that have been making my heart beat lately, to express this memory in a musical way.

Diese erste Perle von @santiago-jovit habe ich beim Draußen-Rauchen im Schaufenster von @sleeveplusplus entdeckt. Das Cover hat mich geschickt und deswegen wollte ich mal reinhören. Nur Track A2 hat mich komplett abgeholt. Trotzdem habe ich mich erst beim zweiten Sleeve-Besuch durchringen können sie mitzunehmen, weil ich mit meinem Kumpel von @peter_sniffin zusammen reingehört hab. Wir waren uns einig. Der perfekte letzte Track, den ich euch aber zur Feier des Anlasses als erstes kredenzen möchte. Obacht: abruptes Ende

Nr. 2 von @binarydigit wollte ich schon lange Mal in ein Set einbringen aber habe es dann immer gelassen, weil die Stimmung so unstimmig zu den anderen Platten erschien aber in sich ist sie ultra stimmig und schön melancholisch, idm-ish, sphärisch und mit Happy End. So hab ichs gern.
Gerade ist mir aufgefallen, dass die Platte eigentlich auf 45 läuft und ich sie immer auf 33 höre XD

Mein neuer Kumpel von Self Lerning System @friedrich_ernst  hat mir zu unserem Kennenlernen im @vary_leipzig seine erste verlegte Platte geschenkt. Das lädt das Teil natürlich mit Extrabedeutung auf. Deshalb auch an dieser Stelle herzlichen Glückwunsch zu eurem „Alt-Herren-Electro“-Debut 😉 Euer Ansatz zum autodidaktischen Produzieren elektronischer Musik hat mich begeistert.
