This Sunday, we are honoured to gather once again for our Communities of Practice Check-in. We are delighted to have Venerable Zhi Sheng facilitating this week's session. Venerable Zhi Sheng will be sharing a meaningful story from Bodhi Light Tales by Venerable Master Hsing Yun — The Bubble Necklace. Through this story, we are invited to reflect on how we sometimes become attached to fleeting things, mistaking them for lasting happiness.

In preparation, we warmly invite you to take a few quiet moments to reflect on the following questions:

1. Have you ever chased after something that seemed important at the time, but later realised it could never bring true happiness? What did you learn from that experience?

2. How can we cultivate the wisdom to let go of attachments in daily life, especially when desires or expectations arise so naturally in us?

Bodhi Light Tales - The Bubble Necklace

Reading is a foundational, yet complex cognitive skill upon which other skills are built. Research on the teaching of reading in the early years of school has consistently identified five key components of effective reading programs: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This paper summarises the research regarding why these five elements are important, as well as how they should be taught in the classroom.
