Press Release:
We are delighted to welcome the artists Jana Sleep, Laima Adelaide, Polygonia and Emika Elena for this first volume accompanied by the visuals of Daisy de Montjoye.

In this EP composed entirely by women, each track bears an evocative female name. They take us on a sonic and cultural odyssey through time by inviting us to navigate the mind towards distant mystical lands.

The first track takes us gently towards the beginning of the journey. Jana Sleep's Šahrzād bewitches us with its hypnotic motif played by string instruments and accompanied by soft percussion. An atmosphere that conjures up in the imagination Persian landscapes, enigmatic and phantasmal places where nature and vanished civilisations collide.

Then comes Laima Adelaide's Circe with its aquatic, almost acidic sounds and dreamy layers. Both hypnotic and catchy, this second track prepares our ears and mind, gradually but energetically, for the rest of the journey.

Mariana Trench by Polygonia then guides us into oceanic depths, off the coast of our imagination. Rhythmic and mischievous, it awakens the ear with its psychedelic effects and swaying tempo.

Finally, Emika Elena's last track Stella incites a trance from the very first notes with its shamanic cadence. Like a ceremonial closing, its tribal rhythm and percussion recall forms of primitive music, resonating through wood
metal and hide.

The newest installment on the "Jazz-o-Tech" label is an EP by the band "Lyder". The band consists of three performing artists Delusional Circuits, Odizouu, and Polygonia. Lyder is a collaborative pseudonym under which they combine jazz and techno by fusing improvisation, live-looping, and sound effects into an immersive electroacoustic experience. Monument premieres the track "Sea Of Thought" from the "Vivacity" EP, which will be out on the 29th of July.

It's been three years since the last chapter of Ntogn's Tome was written and now we're glad to share with you the result of his venture through the recent winter.

'Smedjan' is inspired by the dwarven craftmanship of Norse mythology. It is made completely with organic sounds gathered from, and recorded in, the forests of Bålsta which is rich with northern heritage. Everything you hear is either processed textures of birch wood blocks, layers of a custom made Ukrainian artisan mouth harp or the artist's own voice.

There is no synthesis in this record. The kick drums are made by hitting these pieces of wood against each other with contact microphones. Bass layers are extracted from bark scraping against bark. Hi hats are crafted by recorded fire of the same wood logs burning and ambiance is built from the forests where the trees grew and from the woodshed where the artist chopped the wood during winter to keep his cabin warm. The rhythms and sounds in this shed is what inspired the making of this record.

By shaping these sounds of wood and metal Ntogn strives to create a sonic experience that connects the listener to the the old Norse stories of the dwarven craftsmanship of Svartalfheim. It is they who made the famous trinkets and weapons that empower the gods of Asgård through stories of trickery and despair which has later inspired tales and literature for over a thousand years.

The record has been distilled from material that was meant to become a two-hour live set specifically made for Mo:dem festival which was unfortunately cancelled due to the corona pandemic. It was also the foundation of the artist's thesis at the university of sound design where he made a study of the effects of organic sound on an electronic expression such as techno music.

NORITE, the Brussels-based record label, finishes 2020 in style with the second opus in the Noritian Mysteries series. The incredible 20-track compilation features some of the label's long-time friends and some of the newfound companions.
Josef Gaard's 'Tzumu Chant,' our premiere for today, is one of the standouts from this phenomenal package. 'Tzumu Chant' is a tribal deep techno excursion. Its eerie atmosphere augmented with haunting pads and driven by rumbling kick drum take a listener for a journey that depicts explorations of the depths of The Cango Caves in South Africa in search of mysterious creature Tzumu. 

Noritian Mysteries II is coming out on December 30 via NORITE.
