The São Paulo based collective, Sonido Trópico, have long been establishing themselves as a new voice to be heard within the latin-american scene.

They now take a big step forward in founding a Label. Their first official release, SONIDO TRÓPICO VOL. 1, contains 13 tracks that put into waves exactly what Sonido Trópico is all about. The Producers and DJs who's work appear on this first album have not only played at Sonido Trópico's already infamous parties, but have worked alongside Sonido's 4 Resident DJs (Spaniol, Nirso, Salvador Araguaya & El Peche) in bringing new life and energy to the Sâo Paulo scene. Together they have reinterpreted and expanded, beyond precedent, the horizons of electronic music within the ultra-creative scene in São Paulo.

We are big fan of Da Iguana music, no doubt, he made a beautiful track for our first compilation, the super awsome " dancefloor friendly" cumbia vibe '' Cuando andas por la noche y la cumbia te rompe la cara '', we are really stoked to collaborate with him again,  with an amazing edit of Grupo Batuque :  a tribute to the deep tribal sounds of Berimbau from Brasil.

About his edit : 
"While digging into Brazilian music, I came across this extraordinary percussionist band called Grupo Batuque. Their first album is a real slap in the face, and there was this particular recording using light & dreamy sounds recalling the jungle, with a name as beautiful as the song itself: Percussao Livre. I thought about giving it a go, keeping the entire song, adding some more of these "free percussions", and giving some more melodical depth with some deep organic bass and synthesizers. In the end a lot less organic than the original version, but more trippy, shapeshifting and groovy to my opinion!

Grupo Batuque is a constantly shifting samba collective of veteran Brazilian percussionists, drummers and musicians assembled by Joe Davis of Far Out Recordings.The idea came about in Rio ’96 during three long hot days of Carnival. Far Out Recordings hired a studio and gathered some of the top percussionist and musicians, with artists from local favela-based samba schools. This resulted in ‘Samba de Rua’ the first album from Grupo Batuque, an album full of rural street batucadas – encapsulating the music and atmosphere of the Carnival. 

Grupo Batuque have gone on to release another four albums with Far Out Recordings, becoming one of the labels most successful projects. Their second album ‘Samba de Futebol’ was in part a homage to their beloved Flamengo football club and the beautiful game as a whole. The album featured members of Império Serrano, one of Rio’s most traditional samba schools, led by Wilson das Neves (musical director). 

Their third album, the Grammy nominated ‘Africa Brazil’ was produced by Joe Davis and arranged by Ivan Conti; documenting Samba's African roots. After the success of ‘Africa Brazil’ Far Out Recordings decided to take the project further by releasing ‘Rhythmix’ which featured remixes of tracks from the previous two albums featuring the talents and concepts of 4 Hero, Big Bang, Fauna Flash, Viper Squad, Rock Hunter, Jamie Anderson, Osunlade, Zero dB, Masters At Work and Da Lata. Their fifth album was called ‘O Tempo Do Samba': a feel good, up-tempo sun-soaked record. The core of the album was written by Ivan Conti and produced by Roc Hunter who were helped by infamous percussionist Cidinho Moreira. 

Moreira was backed up on percussion by Pirulito, who in the 70’s was a regular member of Jorge Ben’s legendary Banda Ze Pretinho. It also features Nico Rezende, a famous Brazilian pianist who had major success in the 80s as did composer, songwriter and saxophonist Leo Gandelman who worked on the searing horn arrangements that punctuate the album. The two lead vocalists are Fabiola and Claudemir De Silva. Fabiola was a popular Samba singers from in 70s to the 90s whilst newcomer Claudemir is both a poet and Sambista whose talent started getting recognised after appearing on the album.

The new collaborative release between Folcore Records (Barcelona) and Fértil Discos (Buenos Aires)

A double album made up of remixes of the vinyl released in 2019 "El Camino de Leda" that featured the participation of Chancha Via Circuito, La Charo, Uji, Shaman Herrera, Tremor, Barda, El Remolón, Soema Montenegro, Dat García, King Coya , Pol Nada and more representatives, both of the organic electronic sound of Buenos Aires and singers of contemporary Argentine folk and urban music.

This time, artists from different latitudes remix the tracks of the original ones to create new sounds in song format, to make them suitable for the dance floor in slow mode and also to listening them on any occasion. It has the participation of Klik & Frik, Rodrigo Gallardo, Guazú, Derrok, Tribilin Sound, Carla Valenti, Qechuaboi, Lucas Lead, Mente Orgánica, Nixtamal just to mention some of the collaborations.

El Camino de Leda Remixes Vol.1 and Vol.2 is a new tribute to Leda Valladares, two volumes that include 10 songs each. Available on all streaming platforms.

El nuevo lanzamiento colaborativo entre los sellos Folcore Records (Barcelona) y Fértil Discos (Buenos Aires) Un disco doble compuesto por remixes del disco editado en 2019 El Camino de Leda que contó con la participación de Chancha Via Circuito, La Charo, Uji, Shaman Herrera, Tremor, Barda, El Remolón, Dat García, Soema Montenegro, King Coya, Pol Nada y más representantes, tanto del sonido electrónico orgánico de Buenos Aires como cantantes de la música folklorica y urbana  contemporánea argentina.

Part 2 of the compilation series sees the journey evolving, this time with a more upbeat . Not much has changed in terms of selection, as we continue to draw inspiration from the wider world, we bring to you the sounds of artists originating from Argentina, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil and the UK. Beyond the restrictions of this physical realm, let you ears nourish the mind & soul as they traverse the world for you… 

Portuguese native duo Oxhala continue to push the sounds on the flip side into heavier territory. ’Earth Spirit’ builds from an amalgamation of stomping tribal drums, hypnotically playful keys and distorted vocals, channeling the listener to our innate primitive spirit - this is one for the body & mind.

Once upon a time “Miss Onion” made her way to Zanzibar, in search of real traditional African music.
Luckily, she got in touch with an Italian collective of people called Uhuru Republic, who were traveling throughout Kenya and Tanzania and collaborating with many local musicians, in studios and on stage.
One evening they were recording the Qanun, the main instrument in the Swahili culture, and Miss Onion participated the whole intensive session of music and Konyagi (the local most famous super alcoholic drink). She fell in love immediately with the Afro-Bass gem that was born, and decided to bring it back to Europe. Like this Miss Onion turned this particular piece into a sweet memory from a splendid trip to the heart of Africa.
We immediately shared Miss Onion’s love for this real tribal music experience called “Konyagi a Gogo”, fusing African instruments with electronic sounds and orchestral elements.
For the remix we put the stems in the expert hands of Rafael Aragon who greatly managed to give it an “even more clubbing” spin.
The result is a tasty 7” inches called “Veggie Tales Vol. 3”!!
