Bootlegs and underground music scenes have been closely tied entities for years. people have always been secretly exchanging pirate bowie’s concert tapes, rare psychedelic rock nuggs, obscure funk breaks… even the hometown dj’s last mixtape got recorded on sly by the sneakiest guy on the block, in order to provide his mate’s cars with the freshest sound for a few bucks.

Afterhours set (8am-10am) by @hermann-maillot-1 & @pablodistill (Distill) recorded in December 2021 at Parallel Bordeaux, a dark smoky place where you have no choice but to be sucked into the almost shamanic atmosphere (anyway there's not any spot to rest in the club). The night had started at 3am with our fav jeanjonas borthers (aka JC and Raphi) on warmup duty but recording starts at 8 after Unai's set (3hours of total craziness on both selection and technique as usual). Place was still crowded, everybody was fucked up (and asking for more) and the residents knew 100% how to keep their people going on till the end : fast, dark progressive n trancy beats perfectly blended one into each other till the lights switch on for the last 15-20 minutes.

Curiosity and perseverance, two words that by definition connote an environment poised for expansion and learning.  From its inception onwards, OMNIBUS tracks have always longed to expand the listener's horizon with intriguing sounds and ideas. #13 carries the torch respectfully, all credit to the notorious producer @nabilkizoku.

1ro de Febrero es una fecha importante para WHIM/CAPRICHO, celebramos nuestro 4to aniversario y que mejor con una serie de eventos en la Ciudad De Mexico, siguientes releases en el label a salir, y esta nueva serie de Whim Casts, compartiendo la musica de nuestros artistas favoritos alrededor del planeta sin importar barreras. 

Para este primer capitulo presentamos a SERRANO [Bastard Love + elRojo], la fusión de dos personalidades con identidad, cada uno aportando experiencias, historias, melomania, y un eclécticismo puro donde se conectan mismos gustos y una armonía. Un lenguaje único en la pista de baile. Los dos pueden pasar por varios géneros como el House, Techno, Breaks, Disco naciendo de muchas otras raices. Una personalidad peculiar de cada quien en los decks. Un duo de mundo que no se puede perder en cada improvisación. Serrano es fuerte, picoso y psicodélico.

Tiago Marques has been a usual name amongst the portuguese dance scene for a long time.
With residence in Lisbon, he was part of Bloop Recordings from 2011 till 2018 and in 2019 he joined Nugs On Board label as producer and curator. 
Collector and vinyl digger since the dawn of time, he’s always present at the biggest festivals and the best electronic clubs around.
In-between house and techno, you can’t expect nothing less than versatility and excellent technique when playing the best and the rarest records.

For our second episode, we invited a good friend from Brasil.

@rsamsc is a project created by Rogério Soares member and resident of the Vedana Records, where he seeks the most refined sentiment of his listeners, currently focusing his research on minimalist sounds with energetic grooves and expressive melodies developing a unique atmosphere at each presentation. He plays a big scene in the region of São Paulo, where he and the crew from Vedana, did a series of parties together with great artists such as, Gene On Earth.

The Japanese DJ based in Berlin has deservedly garnered a reputation as a supremely cultured selector thanks to flawless sets and for being a curator of the Cabaret record label. 
His guest podcast is powerful and functional, with a modern sound rooted in classicism. Masda masters the art of reduction: his sound stretches from deep house to tech and electro, but a thread of artful minimalism runs through - stripped-back, modern, free of big breakdowns or in-your-face melodies. Its sound is crisp, groovy and clean but packs a sense of warmth that often eludes such stripped-down tracks.
Progressively structured and surgically mixed, this podcast is a true representation of DJ Masda’s exciting, untouchable style.

Number #3 is from a very good friend from the UK.
@samuelpadden is a self confessed music junkie with 5 years under his belt in experience and is now coming to fruit in his productions. Intelligent forward thinking dance music is what he is promoting, taking inspiration from all corners of electronic music and making it his own. He also has a flair for selection and digging seemingly mixing electro house techno and minimal from new to old and everything in between. In 2018 he released his first records in labels like MINERAL and Girasole Records, witch was supported and played by Evan Baggs. In 2019 and 2020 he released new records in labels such as Threads, Tone Dropout and Sol Azylum.

Big man from the west coast of Portugal, a long time in business and former member of the collective Bloop recordings.
5 years ago he dedicated himfself to his Luhk project, releasing music from labels such as Scenario, Quality Vibe and one of the Portuguese references, Carpet & Snares.
Currently focused on his publisher Cross Over (Bandcamp Only), and his live performances, he delivers this podcast influenced by his roots, house, techno, minimal and trance.

Good day / G’day / I hope this next mix finds you well / how about some precedented times for once! Interpret that as you please. Whatever your poison, it’s time for another dose and the doctor is in. It's with an absolutely full heart that I present to you the next chapter in the ‘stay the fuck home experience’. Our esteemed guest is none other than Mr. Naarm Deepcast himself, Myles Mac, aka a tall glass of water aka captain cloud aka Mt. Killa’dancefloor’o. Literally one of the OG immovable chess pieces of the Melbourne scene. Responsible for bringing Oz music up to date and into the future through the Melbourne Deepcast // TIP!! (for which I owe a lot to in many ways) and for bringing the world to us through a multitude of platforms and ideals thrown together across nearly every venue in Melbourne. For all his merits he’s still remained a very humble dude, he has all the time in the world for others and their harebrained schemes. Myles will gladly lend his ear to munted punter’s telling the same story for the third time, just a bloody good all-rounder, you could take him from kick-ons straight to meet the parents and they would best mates within the hour. I've had the pleasure of knowing Myles for about ten years now and seeing what he’s done and how he’s done it has been a pleasure to watch, he’s paved the way for many a DJ, myself included.

So, you’d think with all this experience in Dj’ing, running parties, and curating one of the better mix series in this audible world that he’d be able to produce a stunning mix that really highlights his knowledge of all of the above and the human psyche in response to those avenues, well, you’re correct. The mix is absolutely sublime. I couldn’t think of a better soundtrack for the introduction to hot weather, pool hangs, spritz’, warm nights, long drives down the beach (which we can now do), and whatever else you associate with summer. The mix itself is an audio-guided tour through a perfectly curated exhibition, gently carrying through from room to room, subtle nods in every direction but with subconscious overarching narrative tying everything together. This is achieved through the lost art of DJ’ing. Scientists say that these “disk jockey’s” would spend years searching for special types of recorded music for which they would then “blend” together on some “banging sound system” to the public to create moments of pure euphoria. This mix will end up in museums as a perfect example of that so people can really understand how their parents met. Anyway, the mix is laden with nostalgia, a 90’s head wet dream, continuously cementing a smile on your face and the overwhelming urge to nod your head. Pack some lunch for this trip, an extended hike through the mind of Myles Mac. This is your cue to stop reading and press play.

Just a quick tip’o’the’hat to Melbourne Deepcast, we, the people would like to thank you for the years of service. (Hopefully, I can finally submit something I’m happy with, in the next 100 years)
