As we get closer to our sister label PUZL Records 1 Year Anniversary celebration we couldn’t resist tapping one of their esteemed guests, Daniel Steinberg, to be apart of our mix series this week. A few years back our own MR PUZL came across the Steinberg’s Arms & Legs outfit and since then has championed their sound in his mixes, reviews and sets. Their unique blend of funk, jazz, hip-hop, soul and house coupled with their passion and longstanding presence in the scene has made them staple in DJ sets and radio shows worldwide. Steinberg’s recent collaboration with Oliver Dollar is yet another reflection of the producer’s esteemed career and ability to stay in sync with the constantly evolving landscape of our industry. 

While Daniel Steinberg may not be a household name here in the states (and in the deeply saturated market of Los Angeles even the world’s best and brightest can seemingly go unnoticed) he is certainly an artist we recommend you become familiar with. As always, we at LAMP stay firm to our commitment to not only shine light on local talent but those from cities and countries far and wide that inspire and influence our musical tastes. Berlin-based DJ duo and couple Brax Moody (Munich) and Vamparela (Thessaloniki) have been collaborating together since 2007, either as a DJ duo, in bands, or as remixers and music producers. Merging the rhythm and dynamism of Munich’s hip-hop clubs with the grime and attitude of Thessaloniki’s back-alley indie bars gives an idea of how to categorize Local Suicide: a straight-up energetic fusion of new wave, slow techno, post disco, acid house or as they like to call it “technodisco”.
As DJs they’ve played all over Europe, Asia, North Africa, South America and the US with gigs at Lollapalooza, Melt Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event, Off Sonar, Berlin Festival and almost every club the German capital has to offer whilst holding down day jobs in the music industry and running one of the top 10 independent music & lifestyle blogs in Germany (www.localsuicide.com) with 30+ international editors. Rest assured that these two have honed their musical tastes and chops.
Having organized parties, festivals, and moderated radio shows for years, Local Suicide are just as much at ease inside the booth as they are outside. June 2014 saw them release their debut single “We can go everywhere” on Bordello A Parigi alongside remixes from In Flagranti, Richard Rossa and Iñigo Vontier. The release has been supported by XLR8R, THUMP, DJ Mag, Mixmag, De:bug amongst many others and We can go everywhere adds a major stone to the duo’s path to major world disco take-over.
“Owl & Wizzle“ which they produced with Rodion in his vintage synth studio in Berlin that features MZ SUNDAY LUV on vocal duties was released in June 2016 on Multi Cultii‘s first Compilation after being premiered on THUMP. It quickly reached the top 30 Beatport Indie/Nu disco Charts and was heading the Juno balearic/downtempo charts for a month. In July 2016 the duo released a remix for Digitalism (also co-produced with Rodion) on [PIAS] Cooperative. In January 2017 a remix by My Favorite Robot of a track by Rodion & Local Suicide was released on My Favorite Robot Recordst‘ annual winter compilation which got praised by DJ Mag (7,5/10) and Faze Magazin (9/10) among others. On August 25, 2017 the duo is releasing another 12” EP with Rodion on My Favorite Robot Records with Remixes by Moscoman, Fairmont and Los Mekanikos.

Heute möchten wir euch den jungen Mann vorstellen, der nicht nur die Nummer 31 unserer null4277 Podcastreihe vertont hat. NEIN, er wird auch der Headliner zu unserem wunderschönen Waldfrieden Open Air V am 16.09.2017 am Großkaynaer See sein. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir Matthias Fiedler für diese beiden Herzensangelegenheiten begeistern und gewinnen konnten. Matthias ist Labelowner von Blaq Numbers / Whyte Numbers, Resident-DJ in der Wolke und Produzent. Seine beiden Labels sind bekannt für qualitativ hochwertige Vinyl-Releases sowie die seit April diesen Jahres gestartete BlaqTapes-Reihe diese mit einem Tape von Ranko vom Leipziger Label O_RS begonnen wurde. Darüber hinaus betreibt Matthias eine sehr erfolgreiche Podcastreihe, die unter dem Namen "Blaq Numbers Guest Mix" läuft. Soundtechnisch bewegt sich Matthias Fiedler zwischen verträumtem Deephouse und groovigem House bis hin zu dem ein oder anderen Disco Klassiker. Eine Mischung die wir lieben und die vor allem perfekt zu einem Tag am See passt. Abschließend bleibt also nur zu sagen, dass wir euch den absoluten Hörgenuss unseres null4277 Podcast #31 von Matthias Fiedler wärmstens empfehlen und wir uns schon mega auf den 16.09.2017 zum Waldfrieden Open Air V am Großkaynaer See mit ihm und euch freuen. <3

This talented guy lives in London and is already known for some serious house and disco bangers. We just think of his track „La Belle“ on Fede Lng`s Axe on Wax or his rework for Hugh Masekela`s „Don`t Go Lose It Baby“ <3 So we hardly recommend you this wonderful piece of music packed with loads of house and disco tunes.

Die #41 unserer Podcastreihe kommt von Schegg aus München. Der Junge Mann, unter anderem bekannt durch seine releases auf NBAST oder Boutade Musique, besticht vor allem durch seinen facettenreichen Sound. Von ganz deep bis hin zu ganz viel disco ist bei ihm alles vertreten. Regelmäßig zieht er damit seine Zuhörerschaft beispielsweise im Goldenen Reiter oder Bahnwärther Thiel in den Bann.

null4277 ist ein über die Jahre gewachsener Freundeskreis, den neben vielen anderen Dingen der Hang zum elektronischen 4/4-Takt verbindet. Der Ursprung der Crew ist im gleich bezifferten Leipziger Stadtteil Connewitz zu suchen, Lebensmittelpunkt von Lost in Deep – Martin Borth und René Sielaff – sowie Andreas Hübner, in dem diese vor etlichen Jahren beginnen, ihre gemeinsamen Schnittmengen in Sachen Feiern und Musik auszuloten. Als die drei Connewitzer im Jahr 2008 beschließen, aktiv ins Geschehen einzugreifen, liegt der Name der Crew auf der Hand …

Zur ursprünglichen Besetzung ist 2010 Sené Ceanes hinzugestoßen, der bereits einige Jahre als DJ, heute aber vor allem als Produzent und Liveact aktiv ist. Erweitert wurde das Kollektiv in den vergangenen Jahren außerdem durch den erfahrenen Constantin Koch aka Freak de Philipè sowie den jüngsten im Bunde, Mütos.

Nach dem sich Anfang 2016 und schweren Herzens die Wege der drei Gründungsmitglieder trennten, weil Andreas Hübner zukünftig seine uneingeschränkte Aufmerksamkeit seiner Familie widmen möchte, konnte die Crew in der zweiten Jahreshälfte bereits zwei Neuzugänge verzeichnen. Die Vinyl-Liebhaber First Aid: Disco! aus der Sparte 13 Naumburg sowie Mount Y, dessen Ursprung in der Querfurter Homebase zu finden ist.

Damit streckt die null4277-Crew die Soundfühler aus, entwickelt sich weiter und findet doch gleichzeitig immer wieder zu sich selbst zurück. Der Housemusik bleiben sie treu – ob deep, Disco oder auch mal technoid, doch aber immer mit einer Standleitung zum Herzen der Künstler und eng verbunden mit der Housecity Leipzig.
