After years apart, we've finally got the boys back on our screens later this month. What better way to celebrate than by marking another return, to the label of their post-breakout "Stash" victory lap. Aus, Belfast and Boiler Room: there's no place like home.

"Just" wastes no time locking the brisk rhythm into place before a wriggling earworm of a lead pans across the channels. Atmospheric swells are pieced by gatling-gun snares; the tension builds but never releases, making this a surefire precursor to the bulk of heavyweight set climaxes you're likely to hear this summer. For our final record of the year, we turn to Glasgow's man of the year - Denis Sulta.

Like a good chunk of the Numbers family, he has earnt his stripes working at the coalface of techno aka Rubadub. He has crafted two excellent twelves for our bare-chested cousins at Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and is beginning to carve himself out a reputation as a DJ of some repute, expertly blending in the bangers with Sulta-certified weirdness. Denis is part of a new wave of Glaswegian artists who are doing amazing things and whose music is continuously exciting us.

‘It’s Only Real’ created by Sulta during a burst of inspiration one Sunday, takes us back to a time when techno was intricately melodic but still kicked hard in the club. Made with only the purest of intentions and a dedication to the art of moving heads and feet.

The weirdo underground live-house duo that is SHOUSE often invite local singers and musicians to collaborate when bunkered down in their Collingwood studio. New release “Love Tonight” is an amalgamation of this working environment, whilst being a cheeky parody and adorable homage to the classic ’80’s celebrity extravaganza that was Bandaid “We Are The World”. Assembling a choir of all the people that they have loved and admired in their local scene (Oscar Key Sung, Monte Morgan (Client Liaison), Bec from The Harpoons, HABITS, Pillow Pro and so many more!), Ed and Jack have delivered the type of number that champions unity and a shared sense of eternal wonder for the future! 

For remixes we have Mike Simonetti (Horse Meat Disco) delivering a dark acid heavy late night techno jam, DJ Seinfeld who eschews the hook altogether for a fun lo-fi belter, and Australian newcomers The Nights with a lusciously pulsating melodic mover. Theres also an exceptional Acapella mix with plenty of dance saxophone!

The warmth delivered on this song is arguably tangible! Showing a shared sense of compassion and a display of strength.

Elevated, Elevated, Elevated is taken from Med, the long-awaited debut LP of Australian producer Hayden Quinn (aka Null)

Med finds Quinn drawing from a range of disparate emotional themes and musical subgenres, the result is a deeply personal and reflective release. Written across a three year period, Med parallels Quinn’s tumultuous on-again off-again relationship with antidepressants during that time. By proxy, Med captures the otherworldly physical sensations and emotions that tied into a cycle of temporary relief, confusion, debilitating withdrawals and blindingly bright white knuckle sobriety.

To label Med as diverse in its influences would be a severe understatement. Through fragile, and at times dissonant musical compositions, Med follows Quinn’s self-exploration into his mental & physical states, framed by his ongoing fervent fascination with the history and progression of the electronica genre.
