The Bom Shanka series presents a brand new and exclusive mix filled with brand new Kryptone music. Kryptone was never born… his IKEA flat-pack fell off the back of a tractor and was discovered by the members of ABBA in an abandoned ice-hockey rink. The band adopted him and raised him as the 5th member, until they realised he was stealing all their drugs at which point (circa 1985) they sold him to George Michael, who had more than enough drugs to go around. Then, in 1987 after losing Faith in George’s musical direction, he took a vow of silence and hitch-hiked his way back to Sweden. There he joined a hippy polar bear family and lived on rainbow trout and Amanita Muscaria until his winter home inside a hollowed-out tree trunk was discovered accidentally by Sir David Attenborough. Sir David gave him a cracked copy of Logic and some killa kick drums and taught him the ways of Psy-Trance production.

This Looney Moon episode features the showcase of the latest JIMI GREEN "Bust a Move" EP alongside some upcoming new tracks. Jimi Green is the Psytrance project of Jonas Kalkreuth from Germany. Throughout his life music has been a loyal companion either by playing multiple instruments, being surrounded by musicians, or listening as much as possible, always being eager to find new inspiring musical ideas. Once he discovered psychedelic trance, he knew the possibilities of musical expression would be endless. After years of experimentation, trial and error he found his own unique interpretation of psychedelic music. Over the years he released tremendous amounts of tunes with his two-man project Duke & Gonzo. After years of composing music together, he felt it was time to explore the realm of psychedelic music on his own and see what will happen once he got down the rabbit hole. Heavy influenced by all kinds of music this project is driven by funky psychedelic soundscapes, groovy basslines, and hard-hitting drums, creating a unique sonic experience which will definitely get your feet moving!

Welcome psychedelic  music enthusiasts, it is with great excitement that we unveil the exclusive PsynOpticz Records "Wizardry" series on Psymedia. This start to this series features a phenomenal live set recorded at MOOV Festival in Cape Town by none other than the talented South African producer, Solus.

For those who may not know, Solus is the psychedelic trance project of Hanré Kotzé, a skilled musician who grew up in a music school and tried his hand at various instruments before finding his passion for psytrance in 2012. He was inspired by attending numerous festivals and listening to the genre non-stop. In 2017, he learned how to DJ and after performing at his first outdoor music festival, he decided to broaden his horizons and produce the music he loved so much himself.

Fast forward to 2021, Solus was signed by the mighty PsynOpticz Records and has since released two EPs between 2021 and 2022. He is currently hard at work on his debut album which is set to be released later this year.

Solus is renowned for taking listeners on a high-energy journey ranging from full-on to psychedelic. His love for music and dedication to the craft is evident in every beat he produces. We invite you to join us on this magical journey through the musical landscape of Solus, one of South Africa's finest upcoming producers!

The third track called “Peculiar Pt.1” is a totally experimental track that features Euclidean rhythms played in a Drum Kit followed by Indian mantras and modular sounds and hasn't any beat. “Peculiar” in Greek is translated as “ιδιόμορφος” which means “of the same morph”, or “ιδιόρρυθμος” which means “of the same rhythm” and It’s the main theme of both parts of the album. This track is about the hard-way confrontation which we all came across at some point in our lives, which sometimes is inevitable yet essential and helpful for us to move forward. It features uncomfortable sounds and rhythms but also ecstatic ones, which points out the essence of contrast, love inside confusion.

Peculiar Pt. One

This is INGRAINED INSTINCTS' DJ set titled "Tales from the Indumba". Ingrained Instincts is a unique project consisting of Tilemachos Vlachos, and Dafy Deliangelos, originally from Greece, but residing in London. Both have shared the same passion for Psychedelic music since their very early days. They met in 2001, formed a project together, and started to develop a different sound, but one totally sympathetic to the scene, and yet wholly psychedelic, and funky! After many years of experimentation, the Ingrained Instincts project was born in 2014. Their sound could be described as an amalgamation of many variations which don’t fit in one box – definitely different and organic sounding. For their production they use analogue as well as digital hardware, and are building their own modular system. Tilemachos also has a downtempo project called “Escape Velocity”. Ingrained Instincts have been busy touring around the globe and have performed live at some of the biggest festivals of the Psytrance scene such as Boom, Ozora, Sonica, Antaris, FreeEarth, Kosmos and many others… This is one project you have to keep an ear out for, because before you know it you’ll be dancing away. Uncontrollably! It’s infectious.

Nulla Taar is the project of George Tsafaridis, from Thessaloniki, Greece.

From the early age of 3, he was already hooked on music listening to bands that his mother used to listen to such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Ozzy Osbourne. At the age of 8, he came in contact with a guitar in the home of a relative and fell in love with it instantly. He was then gifted the guitar, and for years he was playing all day long which resulted in him dropping out of school.

The first Psychedelic party George ever went to was in his hometown at the age of 15, and that's when the other love of his life emerged. At the age of 16, he started producing music and a few months later when he had his first live set as Ekahal he started playing at various parties in Greece and got booked around Europe.

In 2018 he started the duo project Purple Shapes with a close friend Dj Wingman and produced many collaborations with top artists within the scene.

Nulla Taar project has been in the making since 2019. The reason he started this project was to do something new and experimental, with deep meaning and something people with a wider range of musical tastes can relate to. His inspirations came from bands with the likes of Tool, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Doors, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis, and many more that shaped his idea about what music used to be.

In 2023 he released a 34-minute-long EP on Sangoma Records called "Polymorphia", with modern psychological issues as the theme.

His music would be described as twilight forest with a bit of full-on, a touch of progressive influence. Some of his signature motives are Polyrhythmic grooves, meditative soundscapes, heavy leads, and bizarre scales and chords. His music ranges from 148bpm to 159bpm.
