Belgium’s Helsmoortel makes a welcome return to Avoidant with his brand new release, the Belgica EP. With previous tracks featuring on the Distortion Strategy & Dark Planet VAs, the up and coming producer steps out on his own for his first full EP on the label.

The raw power of RTT opens the EP as razor sharp synths buzz across an electrified percussive workout. Etiz warps reality around it with twisting, funked out synths fizzling over a straight up, robotic beat. The darker, malevolent tones of Engie bring an air of foreboding with deep, sweeping pads transporting you to otherworldly landscapes. Motions closes out the EP on a more retro tip whilst retaining Helsmoortel’s unique and expertly crafted sound design as snapping snares drive across a sea of emotive melodies, craftily chopped vocals and proper machine funk beats.

J-LOWER's latest EP, "Fractured Skyline," marks his sixth release under the ECU label. After debuting earlier this year, Lost Tapes of 88 now launches a second album full of remixes and versions of the original synthwave piece. Keeping the 80s retro future inspiration, this 6 Plusten Records release assembles a quite energetic combo blending joyful and dark tracks that range from a mix of synthwave and hard rock to darkwave, synthpop, electro, IDM, drum and bass, EBM and even phonk. The album features fellow Brasília collaborators such as Kalimar Maia, Meduna, TT&G, ^L_ and also the own artist under the Quizzik and LTO88 monikers reconceiving his creations. So despite of the wide spectrum genre wise, this 8-tracker flows nicely with references shifting from likes of Eddie Van Halen to Boy Harsher, a-ha, Lowfish, Hudson Mohawke, Sub Focus, Skinny Puppy and drifter Hensonn, which sonically maintains the nostalgic revisiting focus of Lost Tapes of 88.

Artist Bio

Cris Quizzik is a Brazilian producer and DJ dedicated to experimental electronic music, electro and soundtrack composing, who started his electronic music journey in 2002 when selected for the Red Bull Music Academy, a celebrated platform that discovered artists such as Hudson Mohawke, Dorian Concept and Flying Lotus. Quizzik has also been part of the indie dance duo DeltaFoxx, which had recognition by media outputs like Les Inrockuptibles (FR) and Dancing Astronaut for its tracks and remixes released on Electronic Rumors (UK), Epidemic House Music (SWE), Brazilian Disco Club via THUMP/VICE and Crunchy Music (BR). Since 2021 he returned to his electro and IDM roots, releasing remixes for ^L_ and Meduna and four original tracks via Brazilian label 6 Plusten Records, which were supported by radio shows such as the Austrian FM4 La Boum De Luxe and Manchester´s Reform Radio Lift Music program, channels like HATELab, Tracklistings and respected IDM oriented media Igloo Magazine. In 2024 Cris unleashed his 3 year maturation synthwave moniker called Lost Tapes of 88.
