A Hint Of Spring

Composed in the days leading up toward Independence Day in the United States, this peace is a musical wish to the world. The title was taken from a quote from Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel Prize winner in 2014. "Let us bring equality, justice, and peace for all. Not just the politicians and the world leaders, we all need to contribute. Me. You. It is our duty."

Der Titel «Fara I Viking» ist eine altnordische Redewendung und bedeutet übersetzt so viel wie «auf Wikingerfahrt gehen». Musikalisch geht es auf einen Raubzug auf der europäischen Nordsee. Dementsprechend ist die Komposition von actionreichen und schnellen Passagen geprägt. Nordische und mittelalterliche Instrumente sind zahlreich vertreten. Darunter Drehleiern, Gamben, Uilleann Pipes, Lauten und viele mehr. Ein grosses Orchester mit Chor rundet das Ganze ab und verleiht der Musik eine epische Grösse.

The title “Fara I Viking” is an old Norse phrase and translates as “to go on a Viking raid”. Musically speaking, the piece takes you on a raid on the European North Sea. Accordingly, the composition is characterised by action-packed and fast passages. Nordic and medieval instruments are represented in large numbers. These include hurdy-gurdies, viola da gambas, uilleann pipes, lutes and many more. A large orchestra and choir round off the piece, giving the music an epic grandeur.
