For our 5th vinyl release on Bouquet. Recs, Trent is towing the line between fresh and trippy, but undeniably dance floor heat on his first solo EP, and first release on our label. We are proud to share his momentous solo effort with aficionados everywhere. Recorded in Berlin between 2018 and 2020, “Transition 35” takes cues from multiple eras of dance to characterize the ever changing colors of nightlife. C’mon ride the train - final destination? The limits of your sensual abandon. Stops along the way? 90’s rave. Psychedelic space station. And that’s all in one hour of a long, orgiastic night.

Trent is a Berlin-based Italian DJ and producer who co-created the party series and label “Oscillator” with fellow Italians Dama and Budino. Alongside resident and cosmic pioneer Beppe Loda, they curated one of Berlin’s remarkable events for obscure italo, disco and electro.

Taking lessons from the past Trent weaves together a highly sophisticated yet playful sound for the contemporary club goer. Having spent many years as part of collectives, his solo aesthetic is thoughtfully considered and always surprising.

A longtime fixture of the infamous playground party Cocktail d’Amore, Trent collaborates with Juan Ramos under the shared byname Greenvision, releasing together on Cocktail d’Amore, ESP Institute and Ene Tokyo. “Transition 35” marks Trent’s first solo EP sojourn and a triumphant showcase of his individual voice, on Bouquet. Solune's Convolutions EP, second HMiT Records release, transports us to the world of mid-90s Manhattan and New Jersey clubs' where spirituality and dance were intimately interconnected, and comes within the scope of some American House labels of these same years, on which it was common to find two versions of the same song on the same record. This is the case here for "Feathered Blaze", which is presented in its original version and in its dub rereading, before giving way to an atmospheric track, "Gratitude".

"Feathered Blaze", epic piece of tribal house, takes us from the first seconds into an ecstatic trance whose intensity will continue to rise with the powerful and throbbing rhythmic loops that Solune takes the time to install and develop over time. The kick is intense, the bass heavy and the percussions are hypnotic. The body cannot help starting to dance but, beyond the dance, Solune speaks to our soul. Indeed, at this tribal rhythm are superimposed multiple harmonic layers, carried by very deep chords and ethereal synth lines. The whole is made bleary by a massive use of echoes and delays which infuses a deeply dub touch into the song. Listening to the song obviously brings Ron Trent to mind, as well as Joe Claussell, Kerri Chandler or some glorious releases of labels such as Ibadan and Nite Grooves. As for the Dub Essence version of the track, it tightens on rhythm, percussions and FX, which intermingle ad infinitum to describe complex convolutions in which it is exhilarating to get lost. The closing track, "Gratitude", is a magnificent ambient piece with its long synthetic layers that come and go, its delicate tribal percussions and its aerial and heady melody.

With the Convolutions EP, Solune plunges us into a tribal and mystical atmosphere: time is suspended there at this moment when communion is total on the dancefloor, where everyone, in a collective trance, moves in unison, in a sort of urban shamanic rite.

The album is a relic of three sessions that were created next to or in bed. A small case equipped with a looper, an EQ, a chorus and a delay is the basis. Each track is unique due to the different sound devices used, whether it is a synthesizer, microphone or tablet.
Searching for the mood of the moment, even if the next moment can be completely different, if not even should. A field recorder is an infinite tool for capturing these moments.
Also, these songs are indeed infinite. In the sense of a spiral-shaped interplay of musical influences, states of the moment, errors and coincidences, almost like the magnetic tape of a MC. Fortunately, the acoustic proof of this creative process is now available on an appropriate sound carrier. Expect swirling excursions into brightly illuminated Ambient territories, Lo-fi beat adventures in the outskirts of hidden rave countries and inverted Hip-Hop-experiments from the parking lots of long forgotten shopping centers.
“Das unendliche Konstrukt” translates into “The Infinite Construct". And that is what this tape here truly is. Constructs are facts that are intellectually claimed but not directly tangible. The same can be said about the music that Jacob Stoy made in 2020 instead of writing Corona diaries. This is music that must be felt. But if you try to grasp it only with your mental powers, it will slip through your fingers.
