Mount Lavinia, the house that keeps my name

The night is soft tonight.
The sea carries the same sound it carried
on the evenings when I waited for him
behind the shuttered doors.
People think I left this world long ago —
but love does not leave.
It hides in walls,
in salt,
in the quiet breath of a room.

Someone new has entered my house today.
A woman with a pulse made of light,
and a second pulse inside her,
