S - Capade got into the sound of hardcore jungle in the early nineties. Based on his background as a drummer he supported many DJ sets and then soon after became a DJ himself. Starting out his new found vocation he played a number of pirate Radio stations in Europe and swiftly moved onto the underground club scene. Adding to the DnB industry further he started promoting events and soon after became part owner and resident DJ at the legendary Massive Tunes and Oxygen events in Aachen, Germany. 
This EP is further evidence that S - Capade has a great love for the music and its many styles, fitting perfectly into Architecture Recordings’s philosophy. Originality and innovation at the centre of the ARX mindset.
Never failing to “rise” to the occasion, S - Capade delivers a solid EP, which is action packed from start to finish. He also teams up with the highly talented SIN on the EP, showcasing a great synchronicity in sound. With a clear vision of the future, Architecture Recordings is ready and set to enter into the new year with a sonic boom! Stay tuned…..

Friske is back again on his own Requisite imprint with four more bullets of signature contemporary Rufige aimed directly for head and feet.

Opening with a remix of the first release on Requisite, Friske weaponizes “Distorted Reality”even further with tight gated amens, whilst retaining the original’s metallic clinks and clonks and churning mid bass riddim. 

“Intuition” opens with optimism drenched pads and strings, giving way to taut copter breaks and obese 808 B Line.

Industrial tribalism, brooding analog and cascading mentasms set the tone on the ruthless side step of “Perpetrator”, a clean and clinical, yet brutal assault. 

Another remix of the back catalog sees “Resolution” off REQ002 getting the under the hood tune up, as Friske swaps out the original’s distorted two step with a clattering Funky Mule break for added rugged Jungalism.

"Hailing in for our next release on Off-License, we have a pair of artists who have visited us once before, all the way back on OLR013, but this time they've come back with a full release and we can safely say it doesn't disappoint, may we proudly welcome back, Quantum Mechanix. As a duo, these two artists do things differently, they have minimal social media and let the music speak for itself, but when you hear the quality of what they produce, you'll see why. In their own words, they're two chaps called Jim, they've been making DNB since the 90s, and they have tunes on many labels, the most recent being Modern Conveniences. What more can we really add to that apart from that if you're a fan of old skool Jungle vibes with a modern twist, then this release is for you. On that note we don't have much else to add, so without further ado, may we present to you, the 'Black Widow' EP.

As one of the more mysterious artists we've released on the label, Quantum Mechanix may not be a duo you've ever heard of, but one thing is for certain, they know how it's done, and with a rough combined total of 50+ years in this scene, this should come at no surprise. Throughout the EP, heavy breaks are serenaded with even heavier basses, working in perfect conjunction with each other to make sure they will tare apart any dancefloor they grace. Although the flavours might be old skool, the production techniques and quality this duo possess are very much up there with the best of the best, maintaining the phrase that with age comes experience, and like the releases namesake, we must warn you that this EP is deadly and has been known to cause adverse effects to some listeners. Proceed with caution, you have been warned..."

After exploring a lot of abstract territory on recent releases, this single was a conscious return to more dancefloor / jungle-inspired ground. “Absent” was written earlier in the year, when I was isolating due to contracting Covid (I was lucky and only had fairly mild symptoms). Despite this, it was one of those tunes that came together very quickly and naturally - dark, minimal jungle vibes. “Churn” also takes its inspiration from jungle, but is a bit more unusual, and makes heavy use of hardware synths / guitar FX pedals.

Dropping on the highly esteemed Architecture Recordings Imprint, legendary Drum & Bass producer Ink teams up again with cinematic artist Loomis along side soulful, powerful vocalist Kaybee to deliver the nostalgic ‘Resolution’.

Consisting of 4 mixes to inhabit the different corners of drum and bass, the original is a rolling soulful feast; with cinematic piano melodies and organic strings, infused with sweeping vocals, stabbed bass and growls to take you to the deepest melancholy, yet inspirited realms.

With a nod back to the early drum and bass days that have shaped the scene today, the Heritage mix infuses big emotive pads, multiple bass layers and stunning vocals, laid over driven breaks; delivering a punch and skirting from dark to light, with exactly the right balance of emotion and drive.

One for the DnB purists, the Nova Mix ticks the boxes for those that inhabit the darker corners of the dance floor; distorted, menacing amen rolls, moody pads, stabs and reversed piano moments, all underpinned by a dangerously dark bass and punchy subs. 

To finish off the release, we’re treated with a beautiful, beat-less cinematic outro which highlights the more melodic ingredients; with lush layered strings and emphasised bass crescendos, the Outro is the cherry on the cake of this quintessential drum and bass release.

The release drops this Friday night (17th Feb 2023) @7pm (GMT) with an exclusive band camp digital release along side ultra limited 10” hand cut dub plates - containing the Original and Heritage Mix. Check out Architecture Recordings Bandcamp page for more info.
