The Hidden Treasure

The music for this song was written years ago for a different band I was in.  The original title was "Where's Tomorrow Go?" and had different lyrics, and was sung by another singer.  Unfortunately, that band is no longer active, and I always liked the instrumental I'd made for this tune, so I finally decided to redo it with my own lyrics and vocals.  I figure a more serious song is in order after my last upload.  I hope you enjoy!

Another wasted day has come to pass
Another page left blank in my book
Even if I try to scribble something down
Who the hell would ever want to take a look
I just can’t think of where to start it all
But I think I know how it will end
The second act is dragging on for too long
As I figure out the message it will send

Always find myself needing to be the villain
Could never see myself being the lead
A good protagonist needs to be stimulating
Something to relate to that I don’t have, but I need
I suppose I’m just looking for an excuse
To justify my existential dread
The prologue doesn’t lead up to any intro
Will I have the nerve to write any words before I’m dead 

Sometimes I wonder if it’s my vocabulary
Or if it’s lack of motivation
That prevents me from articulating the words
That would paint the mental illustration
A picturesque account of something more than life
To be remembered for the ages to come
Can I be the hero, or the mischief maker?
Can I find the courage to do what must be done?

In a hundred years will there be anything
Left to prove that I existed at all
What would it take for people to remember me?
A legendary rise to fame, then perhaps a great fall
Good deeds are so often forgotten about
Yet evil doings are immortalized
Who remembers the benevolent Roman Leaders
When the evil ones intrigue us more
