1. What are your top 3 drum n bass/jungle tunes of all-time? 

Honestly I could never pick 3 definitive favourites. I like such a wide range of dnb and jungle it would be way too hard to choose! 
 My 3 favourite at the moment are (in no particular order )  Baiana -  Nia Archives ,  Photing - Harmony & Fire - Sully. 

2. What lead you to working at RK Bass? 

I was hooked when I first bought my first ever record there. I couldn't stop going back and eventually ended up volunteering before being employed by RareKind, it just felt like where I was meant to be. 

 3. If you could be Batman or Robin, who would you be and why? 

Umm I think I'd have to go for Robin on this one, he's a trusty side kick who's always there when you need him, and his life generally seems a bit happier and less stressful!

The Panacea Mix

This is a recording of a mix I performed as a closing set when supporting Outrage in Brisbane a couple months ago. It's pretty dark, heavy and weird and for some reason I never released it so I figured halloween would be the perfect time for a mix like this. In the moment, this live show turned into a spontaneous Al Pack tribute session. I'd originally intended to play a couple of his beats, but when I typed 'Al Pack' into Serato, too many great tracks of his popped up! So I decided to go the whole hog and play Al's work for the remainder of the show. In doing so it conjured many fond memories of playing his tunes live on Bassdrive across the last 14 years.
I didn't know Al personally, but I certainly knew and loved his music. As Spim and many have said, he was the king of D&B bootlegs. Al knew Soul Music! and so he chose great Neo-Soul, R&B & Hip Hop jams to rework. But his talents went far beyond that; with his own original productions and collaborations. I chose to play many of his SoundCloud available tracks that had his name on, but I think several of his bootleg mixes may have been released under the anonymous 'Unknown Artist' moniker too - for obvious reasons. Anyway, I hope my show honours Al Pack's vibe and that my selection represents his legacy suitably.

On a personal level, yesterday's show was one of those, were I was enjoying the usual escapism of playing new tracks, but I wasn't doing much talking on the mic. Since the turn of the year, I've been experiencing SAD / blue Monday vibes. The passing of Al Pack also had an affect on my state of mind. However, I must say that mixing Al's music picked me up massively! Albeit in a bitter-sweet fashion. Again, this goes to show the therapeutic power of feeling music. It was also a privilege to share this moment with Bassdrive's listeners.
RIP Al Pack. As a D&B community, our thoughts are with his family and friends.
