A career spent DJing across the globe was the catalyst for Damian Lazarus’s latest project – Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons. Masterminded by Lazarus the album brings together a wide assortment of vocalists, collaborators and players from around the world. Taking inspiration from Lazarus's Lazpod series, Get Lost events and Day Zero festival in Mexico, this is music for deserts, jungles and sunrises.

Kicking off in LA, Lazarus was joined at the production controls by James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Florence) as the album moved to London, and then final recording sessions completed in Mexico.

The resulting album, ‘Message From the Other Side’, is a revelation. It runs the gamut from the wonderful Qawwali-flavoured techno of the single ‘Lovers Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)’ to the African-tinged house of ‘Sacred Dance of the Demon’ to the dense dark ambient of ‘Inner Core’, and a whole lot else. It’s a truly original piece of music from a DJ-producer always driven by a desire to break new ground and, as importantly, have fun with such adventures

Following the release of the aptly named addictive track “Addicted”, Body Language shares second single “Can’t Hang On”, a club ready track that showcases upcoming album Mythos’ blend of R&B, bass, pop, and house music. Though the band has been known for a signature blend of “future-shocked soul”, Mythos pushes the quartet even further into unknown sonic territories, making every genre they touch their own. The release of "Can't Hang On" will come complete with a remix from Om Records founder Shiny Objects, which will be available on the digital release of the album.

Body Language – Mythos is out on November 4th, 2016 on Om Records.

Rooted in São Paulo, Brazil, the production duo DKVPZ delivers our 19th iteration of the White Label series. With recent features in the 300th episode of Soulection Radio, it’s no secret that their rhythmic, afro-funk infused sound is just as impressive as it is addicting to listen to.

The two met back in 2014 when booked to play the same show. After having a b2b set, they decided then-and-there to start producing together under one name. Although their sound has developed over time, the pair has found their groove and give us four featured tracks (and a bonus!) that blend together upbeat drumlines, melodic samples, trap, and of course, afro-funk.

While both of them grew up with music in their family, DKVPZ’s mission is newness—to continually create fresh sounds by combining their views and production expertise.

London label @axeonwax-records has achieved quite a fair bit since its 2014 inception. Between itself and its ‘grittier’ sub-label Axe Traxx, they’ve clocked in a combined 11 releases consisting of works by proper staples in the scene — Chaos In The CBD, Glenn Underground, and Mall Grab, just to touch on a few. Now, they’re back with yet another sub-label — a hip, trendy and super fun younger sibling of the Axe imprints, with PNP 001 as their first offering.

PNP 001 compiles together re-edits of classic tunes, a task London local @DeejayAstral (fka Palace) is certainly not unfamiliar with. His B1 ‘Say Yes’ opens with a muffled, mumbling take of the spoken-word intro to Floetry’s 2003 hit single. Astral's play with filters lends the up-pitched neo-soul vocals an even more seductive flair. The rework’s feature of sensual jazzy keys and hints of a trip-hop groove may highlight the RnB original’s dreamy bedroom vibes, but the addition of popping kicks and crunchy raw percussion really repurposes the track into a serious dance-floor heater, all without any overstatement. Deejay Astral sure knows how to please.

Sporting a touch of lo-fi, a healthy dose of disco and a whole lotta oomph, the rest of the tracks do not disappoint. It’s no wonder PNP 001 already has the likes of DJ Seinfeld, Baltra and Banoffee Pies on board with early support. Definitely keep your eyes peeled for the release!
