The first in a series of remixes from Bad Colours critically acclaimed "PINK" album comes from up and coming NYC production duo musclecars. Tackling the Hip-House vibes of "Skin To Skin", musclecars pull back and flip the track's unexpected Brazilian outro into a Bossa Nova flavoured dancefloor chugger complete with plenty of funky organ, guitar, and an infectious bassline. A proper remix that's completely original and inspired.

With an envious run of releases on the likes of Handy, Healthy Scratch, wewillalwaysbealovesong and WOLF in a relatively short space – Retormigration is a hot property and it’s clear to see why. We are confident this album will be his breakthrough release, solidifying his status on the scene. There is already that tell-tale ripple of anticipation that lets you know the audience is primed, and with the quality of this album, it’s only a matter of time.

‘Be Someone’ features Bezzix and here the duo masterfully blend shuffling, latin percussion, strings, sax, piano, double bass and vocals. It’s a soulful, jazzy, melodic blend of the organic and electronic, culminating in an off-kilter deep house jam, full of Retromigration's trademark swagger. Fans of Masters At Work, Kerri Chandler, Ron Trent, et al will be into this one.

“Freddie’s Groove” is Crackazat in full-on jazz mode. The nod to Freddie Hubbard is clear, and Crackazat cleverly takes ideas from both the jazz legend and his legendary French sampler, Pepe Bradock for this track. The horns are deep and moody, the groove is jazz-house at its best and Crackazat’s soft vocals have the perfect amount of fragility to fit the groove. The changeover into a stabby synth section halfway through the track is a subtle reminder from the skilled producer that – even with all these musical elements – he can direct you to the front of the dancefloor with the twist of a note.

Kuna Maze delivers his new album ‘Night Shift’ via the UK’s Tru Thoughts this June, featuring collaborations with Steve Spacek, Mivda and Reinel Bakole across its thirteen tracks. Brussels-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ, Edouard Gilbert aka Kuna Maze, has been steadily making his mark on the contemporary electronic music scene over the past few years. Delivering collaborative projects for the likes of Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM (Test Press Club), Lyon’s Galant, Parisian label Cascade and of course Tru Thoughts where he makes a welcome return here following his ‘Débuts’ LP alongside Nikitch in 2020 and their 2022 ‘Back & Forth’ LP.

House music is a global love thang. Viennese label secret crunch releases its fourth EP and his 2nd various artists sampler, which unites producers from all over the world. 

On Side A Vienna based Sam Irl opens with a jazz infused bouncy groove. "Come back" shines with its exciting musical diversity and suspense. Tijuana born Soul Of Hex alias Sebastian Vorhaus delivers a subtle rave vibe that grows into an uplifting groove. 
On the b side Moff & Tarkin impresses with a subtle steady builder based on a funky baseline, fueled with floaty space sounds. Italian Clang 83 finishes in style with a deeper than deep banger.

Drum machines, electric pianos, and catchy vocal samples take center stage on Georgi Barrel’s “Rhyme Goes On,” a nostalgia-soaked 12” on the Istanbul/Barcelona-based record label Petra. Joining a catalog of quality releases by Niclas Kannengiesser, Ugur Project, and label owner, Eren Erdol, PTR018 fits nicely into the label’s ethos of releasing timelessly-good music with little care for the boom and bust cycle of passing trends.

On both "Rhyme Goes On" and "Recycle," Barrel works to reinterpret tried-and-true sounds and combine them in new and exciting ways. Its mission accomplished in our minds as both originals (and their remixes) hold their own in our crates next to recent favorites and re-discovered classics. Smart, swift arrangements keep things interesting as sampled raps repeat over jazzy chords, dusty drums, and rolling bass lines. On remix duties for "Recycle" is German veteran Hodini, a Bolting Bits favorite with standout EPs on Money$ex and Wolf Music and previous remixes on Toy Tonics and Tenderpark. Stretching out the original arrangement, Hodini turns "Recycle" into a DJ's dream that rides out a brilliantly simple groove that does away with the original vocal in favor of sultry chords and steady drums.

For the rework of the title track, Petra stayed in-house, tapping up-and-comer Kerem Akdag to add some synth-laden goodness to the rough and raw original. By subduing the original vocal sample, Akdag lets his synthesizers do the talking. Lush pads, subtle bass, and delay-soaked leads come together in a compelling arrangement that begs for a replay after its reasonably quick runtime. The various elements weave together to make every changeup feel like a familiar surprise as they take turns leading the track.

Omena travels south of the Mediterranean Sea, antique maps and compass in hand, for the release of Parviz's Zerzura EP.

An expedition to the eponymous mythical oasis, west of the Nile river, stirring "the passion of men", as St-Exupery would put it.

Four songs of romance and reverie, taking you through a dizzying jazz journey, full of twists and turns; starting with emboldened trumpets, only to end on a handful of quaint piano notes. 

As dusk settles upon the dunes, the mirage has now vanished, and the forlorn hope turns into a soul-searching journey.
