Here In The Dark

I wrote this at a time when I was feeling very low, when my boyfriend had died. I felt so much, so strongly, I believed I was going insane, asking myself, what’s the point to all theses feelings. I’m sure some people might feel the same, when they feel too much. 
I guess I’ve always been that way, feeling things with too much intensity, whether it’s joy, sorrow or pain. It’s never the middle of the road, so to speak, but rather a rollercoaster of emotions.
Anyway after hearing Hank Beukema’s voice recently, I thought, it’s the perfect voice. I asked him if he might read my poem for me and was rejoiced when he agreed. His voice truly makes every words come to life. It’s warmth so incredible. Copyright protected ©

With a drum intro worthy off “Spin Doctors” The EP starts off with “Rely on me”. This guitar driven and upbeat indie rock tune doesn’t hide its influences from the late 70’s punk scene, despite the fact that it was originally written as an acoustic folk song as a birthday present to the artist’s wife. The muted guitar in the verses opens up and explodes in the chorus together with goodies like a Hammond Organ and football stand choirs. Together with the declaration of love that makes up the lyrics this song is for sure going to put a smile on the listeners face.
