A totally unserious (and equally unnecessary) composition reflecting my life-long love of all things celestial as reflected in my childhood TV diet of such delightful Gerry Anderson offerings as ‘Fireball XL5”, “Thunderbirds” * and the immaculately inspired merging of supermarionation and live-action in the series “UFO”.

The piece came into being whilst tinkering with some synth sounds which reminded me a little of my all-time favourite radio and TV series “The Hitchhikers’ Guide To The Galaxy” and the superb theme music  "Journey of the Sorcerer" originally composed by American rock legends The Eagles and reimagined by Tim Souster of the BBC Radiophonic workshop. 

My own contribution to the genre is a sort of sci-fi version of roadside breakdown recovery which I can only hope isn’t too onerous to the ears ❤️ॐ 

*in “Thunderbirds” the five Tracy brothers were named after five of the NASA astronauts from the "Mercury Seven" space program from the early 1960's: Scott Tracy after Scott Carpenter; Virgil Tracy after Gus Grissom whose real first name was Virgil; Alan Tracy after Alan Shepard; Gordon Tracy after Gordon Cooper, and John Tracy after John Glenn whose autograph I once had!

somewhere near the end of “While They Were Sleeping,” something shifts. A final candle flickers. The pages begin to stir. And quietly, a sentence appears  one that was never meant to be written.

“And Then He Rewrote the Ending…” is the call. Not a scream, not a battle cry just truth whispered back into the dark. A musical prelude to what comes after. A response not with rage, but with resilience.

The melody doesn’t fight. It remembers. And slowly, something in the silence begins to bend.

What’s coming cannot be beaten. It’s too big, too old. But maybe it doesn’t have to be. Maybe survival is its own kind of ending. Or maybe… it’s the beginning of another story entirely.
