Moon In The Fires Of Revolution

Mlehst is an English composer and noise musician, who creates bizarre soundscapes which are both surreal and powerfully emotive. Mlehst was started in 1991 and continues to the present working between genres. Mixing electronics, field recordings and acoustic sound heavily influenced by the original Musique concrete artists and modern classical composers. Currently, Mlehst is working in the realm of deconstructing house and dance music to form his unusual compositions.
Main influences: Christian Zanesi, Bernard Parmeginani, Luc Ferrari, Pierre Henry, Hafler trio, Nurse with Wound, Roger Doyle, John Wall and more.

 On this episode of F.B.I. Pathology Report we explore the case of Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in Britain. 

 A volatile relationship that led to a miscarriage after he punched her in the stomach during an argument and then the infamous event of the 10th of April, 1955.
On a "fateful' Easter Sunday,  Ruth Ellis, then known as a nightclub hostess, fatally shot David Blakely outside Magdala pub in Hampstead, north London.

 Enormous evidence against Ellis was held, though the public and press campaigned for granting an amnesty to her, due to her good reputation as a mother. 
Despite the massive efforts, she eventually got sentenced to death by hanging.
On July 13, the hangman Albert Pierrepoint and his assistant entered her cell and took her to the adjacent execution room where she was hanged. Remains of executed women at Holloway were exhumed for reburial elsewhere. Particularly, her remains were reburied in the churchyard of St. Mary's Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, 4.8 kilometers from where Blakely was buried.

 The evocative intense of attention Ruth's case caused on press and public, (as) a widespread controversy at the time, reached to the point to be discussed by the Cabinet. 
She was the last woman ever to be executed in Britain. An infamous event which from one's perspective, ironically as well as allegorically, so to say, could bear a resemblance to the apocryphal myth of Judith and Holofernes.

SCICHEDEL (Pronounced “saiquedel”)

It is the conceptual blend of science fiction and psychedelia. It’s a space opera in musical form, composed with a personal technique that Von Krup named as “hyper-recycling".

This idea stems from a phenomenon that often overwhelms producers: having thousands of 8-bar beats that seem to go nowhere. We create one after another, gradually abandoning them. In his opinion, forcing these 8-bar beats into a 6-minute track is the perfect formula for boring tracks—3-minute intros followed by predictable drops, with or without hi-hat/kick.

To break this pattern, he decided to let these beats follow their own creative path. Whether they lasted 30 seconds or 5 minutes depended solely on their own elements and storytelling. After creating around 25 tracks with these characteristics, he sought a way to mix them together to form longer tracks that defied their own structure. That’s why some tracks seem like two or three combined into one.

All sounds are inspired by outer space, feeding off themselves in the crunchy, chewy sound that defines Von Krup, but with a more organic and sweet tint.

Buried under layers of blankets, attempting to sleep in -45 degree wind chill, TWINS’ Matt Weiner was shivering on the couch in mixengineer Jeremiah Meece’s living room. He’d already named his record ‘New Cold Dream’ before traveling to Chicago on the coldest day since 1985 to mix down the recordings; the fact that the city was in the midst of a polar vortex when he arrived was just a bit of cosmic irony. Still, this frosty scene is a perfect microcosm for the album itself - New Cold Dream is, in his words, about “staying warm in a cold world.”
Though TWINS’ sound has always drawn on synth-pop, his second LP takes the ‘80s influence a step further, interpreting our current climate of fear and uncertainty as a direct result of the economic policies set into motion during the Reagan/Thatcher era. The conditions under which New Cold Dream was created serve as evidence that the New Gold Dream that Simple Minds were singing about in 1982 has coalesced into something much darker. In the 21st century, the idea of the “American Dream” has been replaced by a cold new frontier. If life in America is a new sort of Wild West, then Weiner is its gothic cowboy chronicler, staring into the vast expanse of rising inequality, social stratification and environmental collapse. Still, NCD isn’t a pessimistic record - Weiner seeks to embrace the unforgiving nature of these realities. Balancing our optimism with cynicism, oscillating between hot and cold. This duality can be heard throughout the record - from the foreboding refrain of “Slow Decline” to the sublime choral tones of “Misuse.” Ominous, industrial beats offset dreamy synth melodies, while Weiner’s fervid vocals reconcile tensions throughout. New Cold Dream is a thoughtful yet heartfelt amalgamation of dark electro, synth pop, and industrial dance music. “Lie Awake,” an irresistibly classic dark-electro song underpinned by an infectious dance beat, embodies this balance perfectly. Past influences abound - from John Maus to Bauhaus, from Suicide to Depeche Mode - but this record lives distinctly in the present.
Hot vs. cold, fear vs. courage, light vs. dark. TWINS finds the similarities in what appear to be opposites, and invites us to do the same. 
“I want people to feel moved; both moved to get up and move and also moved in a deeper sense of connecting with ideas that may not have made sense before,” Weiner says of his project. It’s music for contemplating while dancing, for letting go while you hold on tight. As we grow tired of a world that deals in extremes, we wake up to a new cold dream.

The Die Stimme Drängt EP is their first original EP since 2018, the year they put out their highly acclaimed ‘Aus Den Falten’ which fiercely hit the DJ circuit and left a great impression. Designing their sound, Dødsmaskin employ a mix of electronic, electric and acoustic/field-recording elements that are structured in a spectrum ranging from overpowering noise to deep drone and ambience, frequently integrated with tonal layers and metrical arrangements. The fifth full-length installment, Verdenssmerte («World-pain»), is a continuation of this approach, introducing some new aspects to the Dødsmaskin aesthetics as well as cultivating established ones.

Verdenssmerte, a direct translation of the term «weltschmerz», is a title picked at an early stage of the recording process owing to the overall mood of the emerging material and the conceptual framework that had been laid out. In its original meaning, «weltschmerz» signifies psychological implications of the restraints of the physical world; a recurring theme in various Romantic and Decadent literature of the 19th century. Verdenssmerte, then, can be viewed both as an homage and a contemporary contribution to that movement.
