Letting his superb selections and finely honed skills behind the decks do the talking for him, Unai Trotti emerged as one of our favourite DJs and curators in recent years. With the recent launch of two new Cartulis sub-labels, we caught up with Trotti to get the lowdown on his recent projects, playing in front of a crowd again and things to come, and he’s been so kind as to share with us, the recording of a set he played at Mutabor in Moscow, featuring 3.5 hours of brilliant transitions, pulsating tech groovers, proggy house and other ‘90s oriented goodness.

A festival highlight, this rare b2b unites two of Asia's top underground selectors. Mr. Ho, Klasse Wrecks head and resident at 宀 club, delivers raw, bass-heavy energy with unpredictable twists, while Tokyo’s Wada Yosuke, a vinyl purist and founder of Cowboy Family label, crafts hypnotic, evolving narratives through intricate rhythms and shifting atmospheres. 

Together, they create a four-hour sonic journey, rich in tension, texture, and euphoric release—an experience that embodies the fearless spirit of underground sound.

Next up on the Cartulis Podcast is Eliza, a Vienna native now based in Berlin, where she continues her deep dive into music and culture. As a co-owner of Rota Bene, she breathes new life into overlooked gems, curating re-releases that bridge past and present with purpose. Her musical explorations are rooted in a sharp instinct for records that defy time and trends.

With a background in cultural and social anthropology, Eliza’s approach to DJing is more than just selection, it’s about weaving connections. Expect a hypnotic trip through textures and tempos, where musical diversity takes center stage in shaping an atmosphere beyond the dancefloor.

Cartulis Live Series Podcast 012 - Cabanelas (Live)

For this new episode of our live podcast series, we present the debut live set by Cabanelas — a sincere and carefully crafted journey through his musical vision, recorded in one of the most emblematic clubs of his hometown.

Ignacio Cabanelas, born in Montevideo in the late '80s, began collecting records and producing music before making his DJ debut in 2015 at Phonotheque. That same year, he co-launched the party series No Way Back, a project born from a shared passion for electronic music.

In 2018, he co-founded the label Montevideo Electric Recordings (MER) with Santiago Uribe, Juan Dairecshion, and Soto, with the aim of supporting and releasing music from the region.

This recording captures a special moment, his first ever live set, and offers a glimpse into his evolving sound.

This set is dedicated to Agustín Campolo (RIP), a friend and an inspiration.

First live set debut for the lovely friends at Equarium here in Berlin. Had a blast with the whole process. From the preparation, performing, patience and understanding and learning. Really learned a lot and enjoyed it overall, so more live performances in the near future :)

Emir is an Argentine DJ and producer based in Spain. Throughout his career, he has been part of key collectives such as Witches and KIDZ in Argentina, and Maquina Total in Barcelona, where he promoted events that connect music with community.

Currently living in Madrid, he runs Silencio Locx, a collective that organizes warehouse parties and has established itself as one of the most consistent proposals in the local scene. He is also the creator of La Movida Radioactiva, a party that explores new formats and ways of gathering around clubbing.

His sets cross genres like techno, acid, electro, trance, new beat, and bleep, with a focus that celebrates the roots of 90s electronic music and constantly keeps the dancefloor moving.

In his own words: “In this mix, I propose a sonic journey that reflects my way of understanding and inhabiting the dance floor. I’m interested in experimenting and breaking away from rigid structures, showing that all styles can coexist and enhance one another.

Throughout the session, sounds from different eras the 80s, 90s, and 00s are woven together, with genres like techno, ebm, electro, acid house, new beat, among others, creating a constant dialogue between past and present.

Each transition aims to create a situation and build a sonic narrative with its own identity”
