What Has This World Come To?

I feel this year as an independent artist who has been doing this for over 12 years my husband and I have accomplished so much musically and grateful to everyone who has been listening and takes the time out of their day to listen to my work/his work. And with all that has been happening in the world I wanted to compose a track that can be uplifting and spreads some joy in such a sad/negative world and just be grateful that we woke up today

Regaining Courage

I have been making beats for over 12 years and as time goes by the indie scene is just evolving. And eventhough AI and loop based music has become wildly acceptable in the new age of social media where anyone can make/produce music, I still compose, mix, and master my work and I can never quit now. This beat was made in Cubasis, a new DAW app I'm using. And every key played and drums used and horns you hear I composed them using my new midi keyboard and drum machine my husband got me as a gift to help me grow more and try new beat making techniques and melodies. Eventhough this track is about me never quitting music making, this track could be for anyone whether in the gym or who just needs some inspiration to never quit in whatever makes you the happiest. I also created the artwork and felt it went well with the beat. For anyone looking for real music it's right here. 

Can't Quit Now

Doing beats/making music has been my life since I was a kid and I have taken the time to learn how to read and write music and played by ear at first before I took classes to learn more how to play pieces and how to compose my own work. In this new day and age of the indie music making scene, I have been struggling to find my place since the majority wants to be seen today so what was once unique has kind of lost its value to me since I came across beatmaking on my own no one showed me or told me about the craft. I had my influences, but I just fell in love with creating my own music. I have done electronic, hiphop, jazz, classical, country, any genre you could think of, along with using sound effects when I thought it was unique and now I have had to step back in tune with myself now and why I made music in the first place to never lose myself in this new indie music community where the physical appearance/connections and hoping for overnight/mainstream success and chasing people for validation/collabs mean more than the art and talent of making the music. I have suffered a little bit of an identity crisis because if anyone can make beats today using ai or loops, what does that mean for the real musicians who have taken years to hone their craft while the new just know how to promote right and that every device now comes with a DAW app and distribution deals are everywhere, but where is the originality anymore and when will the independent music scene be about the music again not who you know or how attractive you are? So I'm going back to my electronic/techno roots with this one to remember to make music fun again. Every melody and every drum beat you hear is all me in Cubasis using my midi keyboard and my beat pad that my husband bought me to help me continue to grow musically since he's an audio engineer/music composer too that I met in music theory class in college 2015 and has been my best friend on this journey! And this beat is for anyone else going through an identity crisis in anything that you do you are not alone.

I made this track using Cubasis! I used my midi keyboard and beat pad that my husband, Oarber got me to compose this track and mixed and mastered it myself manually. I decided to name this track The Lace Moth because moths are already gorgeous insects to me and also they stand for transformation, rebirth, intuition, and the connection between the seen and unseen worlds. Which is all I'm about in this new sober journey I'm on since I've been sober for 2 years now. I'm also on a new musical journey since using a new and more advanced app and wanting to make my music more uniquely me. This track goes out to anyone going through growth and a new journey whether it be newfound sobriety or a new spiritual journey or finding something a hobby you love and becoming great at it.

This instrumental is about never giving up on yourself and to never give in to what other people are doing cause originality still matters! This track is composed by me and the artwork was also created by me! No AI, samples, or loops were used in this production. This track was inspired by my husband, Oarber who is a hiphop producer! This track was made with Cubasis and I used a midi keyboard for the melodies and my beat pads to do the drums and the scratch sounds I did myself as well! Former record label was Rawbeenhood Records and new label is Oarber and Kanahala No Way aka OK No Way. 

Originality Still Matters

This track is one of the darkest for me since being sober for 2 years now I am actually dealing with my miscarriage from 3 years ago without any substances and we can't have kids so the pain has become too much that I need to let this out. I like to keep certain things about my life to myself but for anyone else/any other couples that may be struggling with a miscarriage and may not ever have a child this is for you and I thank my husband for being by my side throughout everything. Composed, mixed, and mastered entirely by me and I created the artwork that I felt fit this track the most. Thank you so much to everyone who takes the time to listen to my music I really appreciate it! And all my music is made with love and dedication.

Left Brain Uno

I made this track using Cubasis. I used a midi keyboard to compose all the melodies and a beat pad to do all the percussion and drums. I also created the artwork!  I have been doing music production and composing for over 15 years and met my husband 10 years ago, 2015, in music theory class in college. I first started playing by ear as a kid and in middle school and high school learned how to play drums, guitar, and piano. Around this time is when I also picked up music production in 2010.  I fell in love with creating and composing and writing songs that I then went to college for 4 years, after graduating high school, to learn as much as I can on music history, music theory, composing, and producing which is where I also met the love of my life, Oarber, who is also a very talented composer, producer, and engineer. I had to make this track because I have been becoming discouraged from the current indie landscape and that there's more people in this field who are looking to be a trendsetter or win Grammys or any awards today since because of social media today without actually being on social media anymore I have seen older producers and musicians feeling like they need to educate or compete with younger artists and seeing who knows music theory or music history or about this genre or that genre more or who blew up the fastest or just so much competition when I got into music composing and producing and audio engineering on my own years ago and have done the follow for follow like for like or anything like that years ago and it helped other artists more than me and I just work with my husband now. I had to make this track to get rid of that anger and sadness I feel being a woman indie beatmaker who has to fight against these other independent women composers or beat makers when I didn't get into music making for that or to compete with anyone. I thank everyone who listens to both my husband and I and this new era is just about being happy and bringing joy and inspiration to the listeners not negativity. And I dedicate this track to my husband, Oarber, who has supported me for so many years and has helped me get better in my musical journey since we are never finished learning and growing.

Oarber is a prolific songwriter, prodigious beatmaker, and a perfectionist. Every bar, beat, and bounce is meticulously crafted with attention to detail and technical precision. Born in the Dominican Republic and forged in the crucible that is Lawrence, Massachusetts, Oarber is comfortable being uncomfortable. Not only is he known for dropping mind-bending Hip-Hop bangers, but he is also just as at home penning a priceless piano concerto in the Classical style. 

Educated in the finest institutions, Oarber’s academic prowess is a testament to his ability to excel in competitive environments. He composes with clarity, refusing to adhere to a preordained path while pursuing an ideal balance of raw, unscripted emotion and ultimate artistry. Oarber resides in Massachusetts and co-owns OK No Way with his wife Kanahala, who is also a talented artist and beatmaker in her own right.
