The Forgotten CCLXXIV: Moken (live)

Andi is a Brooklyn based-DJ, producer, and founder of the dark synth party and label SYNTHICIDE. Her own aesthetic combines her devotion to underground 1980s Industrial, EBM, New Beat, Italo and Sleazy Synth to create a soundscape that is unarguably danceable. Through her music, she aims to challenge the expectations within the confines of this masculine genre, often focusing on the ideas of revenge and strength through a woman’s perspective. Andi released her first EP, “Corpse To Corpus”, on aufnahme + wiedergabe in 2020.

This all-vinyl mix was inspired by the movie “Wild Orchid”, as well as the slow chugging Eastern-influenced New Beat that is perfect for warm summer nights.

Hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece, Alpha Sect is a project of George McCall, which is focused on breaking electro patterns and pumping body music with serious punk influences. He started his music career as a guitarist in the post-metal band Sleepstream with 2 albums on their track record and he is an active musician with participations in physical theatre performances with his side-project. With already 4 EP releases on prominent labels such as OSM Tapes, Kein Rauch Ohne Feuer, Pildoras Tapes & Forkha, Alpha Sect strikes back with a vinyl release on SOIL RECORDS (27/11/21) and has also signed two more vinyls on two major Spanish labels that are to be released in early 2022. Our first mix of 2022 opens with multi-talented journalist, producer, and DJ Chloé Lula. After over a decade contributing to the electronic music scene as a curator, DJ, and label-head, Chloé took on producing in 2019 after a month-long residency with Drew McDowall from Coil. Her debut EP ‘Errant Bodies’ released on Berlin-based label aufnahme + wiedergabe last year is a collage of heavy-hitting EBM, industrial, and techno electronica - raw, gritty, and dancefloor oriented, a sonic sentiment she translates into her DJing, her monthly residency ‘No Exit’ on Refuge Worldwide, and her mix for Endless Illusion. In addition to her work as a musician, Chloé is passionate about gender justice, LGBTQ+ and human rights, migration and mutual aid, as well as their intersection with music, culture, and nightlife. You can find her writing on Refuge Worldwide, a radio station that amplifies these issues (and much more) and a number of major international publications. She spoke with Jonáš about inequalities in the music industry, new horizons for Resident Advisor, the art of DJing, and her studio setup and upcoming music.

🇬🇷 - 🇳🇱 With his roots in Amsterdam’s DIY scene, @extaseurbaine has been quick gaining a momentum, achieving local and international recognition.

He is the co-founder and resident DJ of HDE, a collective dedicated to pushing the boundaries of underground clubbing. HDE nights quickly became among Amsterdam’s most recognized parties, known for their multidisciplinary approach to the dance floor.

His DJ sets cross weave genres, scenes, past and present, blending everything from EBM and New Beat, to electro and trance-y explorations. Extase has released music on independent record labels such as Soil and the Athenean Ferma, and is soon releasing an EP with Budapest’s Dalmata Daniel.
