In 1985, freshly obsessed with his new Tascam 4-track recorder and a synth that made 12 vaguely usable sounds, Billy Noknees decided it was time to revisit an old classic: the legendary Have You Seen My Balls. But this time, there would be no funk band, no studio musicians, and definitely no outside opinions—this was the solo version no one asked for.

Armed with glitter, determination, and a keyboard he didn’t entirely understand, Billy converted his living room into a personal temple of sound, lit only by lava lamps and powered by one dangerously overworked extension cord.

The result? A shimmering, lo-fi, synth-pop reimagining of his most infamous track.

Midway through recording, a power cut wiped an entire synth track, which Billy took as a “sign from the balls themselves” to leave it in. He added reverb to the silence and called it “existential space.”

The home-recorded cassette was never officially released, but Billy mailed it to multiple record labels stuffed inside tennis ball tubes. All of them declined—except for one rep who accidentally played it at a company party thinking it was A-Ha.

It became an underground joke track for a brief moment in '85 before vanishing entirely.

That is, until 2011, when a dusty box labeled “DO NOT LISTEN (Too Emotional)” was discovered in a charity shop in Leeds. Inside: a single cassette of Have You Seen My Balls (1985 Synth Rework), signed in glitter pen.

Now, lovingly AI-remastered, it returns with its original homemade artwork: a crude drawing Billy as a god.
