Step into the shadows and you’ll find behind the curtain. He is a Dresden-based DJ who’s been shaping the scene for some three decades.

With an instinct for mood, behind the curtain constructs a sound where rhythm collides with atmospheric depth.

Rooted in techno but unafraid to wander, his work threads between the mechanical pulse of the dancefloor and the hazy edges of ambient and experimental realms—taking his audience from relentless groove to suspended abstraction, a contrast that defines his sound in particular.

About DDNBC

Starting out as a Drum and Bass night series in Leipzig (Germany) with focus on mainly deep, dark, yet experimental aspects of the genre and DNB-related music such as Footwork, 160 BPM, Dark Jungle and so on, the Dark Drum&Bass Convention has become an DNB institution in the local scene with regular events, but also an independent platform for different DJs and Labels that share the same interest in this music and B2B DJ-culture.

DDNBC is all about the scene as a family and connecting. With the launch of a podcast series that does strictly feature DJs that have been playing at one of the past events already, this concept might become even more evident. As the family is growing, we are proud to already have featured artists such as Kyrist, Visionobi, ZeroZero, DLR, Hydro, War, Silent Witness, Ruffhouse, Survey, Unreal Project and LXC.

✨Drum and Bass is my Yoga✨

Ihre ersten musikalischen Schritte begann Karl8 in Italien. Als Teil der Free-Tekno und DnB Szene organisierte Raves. Mitte der Zehner-Jahre zog sie nach Berlin, fing dort an zu DJen und wurde Teil der Rooted Crew. Es folgten erste Gigs auf WG-Partys, wenig später Bookings in der alternativen Szene Berlins sowie auf kleineren Festivals. Ihren Sound fand Karl8 zwischen OldSchool, Drum'n'Bass und Neurofunk - sie liebt treibende Loops und harten Bass!
Im Jahr 2024 entschied Karl8 sich für Leipzig. Durch eine zufällige spontane Session mit Derrick auf dem Fusion Gelände fand sie ihren Weg zu Ulan Bator und, durch Auftritte im Conne Island, der Gieszerstr. sowie auf dem Mit Dir- und Subardo Festival, in die lokale und überregionale Szene. Selbst hegt sie einen Anspruch darüber hinaus und möchte mehr queere sowie aufstrebende Producerinnen sichtbar und hörbar machen!

MiniBio:

Seit ende der neunziger DJ und Initiator der Fokus liegt hier auf Drum and Bass aber auch Ambient, Techno und House bekamen in verschiedenen Projekten ihren Raum.
Aloo war teil der Flex.EF Crew aus Erfurt und organisierte gemeinsam mit DJ Cat und Snout die  "elementz" mit u.a. High Contrast, Dillinja & MC Rage, Clipz, Nu:Tone, Dub Pistols(Barry Ash.), A-Sides & MC Fats, Kabuki, Total Science, DJ Lee und Technical Itch.
Als Resident ging es ab 2002 im Centrum Club weiter dort standen die Flex Partys für einen breit aufgestellten Sound bis Ende der Nuller Jahre. 
2010 organisierte aloo in Leipzig im eigenen Club VAs dort entstand gemeinsam mit audite, Wintermute und Neonlight die "FAT BEMME" neben der "Midway" die erfolgreichste Partyreihe im Pferdehaus {R.I.P.} mit u.a. State of Mind, Rido, Nymfo, L33, Ivy Lab, Phil Tanget, June Miller und Misanthrop.
Als Crewmitglied der FAT BEMME geht es seit 2018 in der Distillery weiter.
