Critical Music founder Kasra Mowlavi has launched Best Intentions, a new label with the aims of no musical limitations, style or tempo.

Tim Reaper heads the inaugural release, bringing together an original 90’s jungle aesthetic with future-facing consciousness on ‘Raw Energy Movements’ EP. 

Hong-Kong-born, Bristol-based gyrofield follows soon afterwards with ‘Flower Burial’, a project blending influences from house, techno, ambient and acid jazz under a backdrop of ambiguous melodramatic mysticism. With each release donating a portion of profits to a charity of the artist’s choosing, Tim Reaper has chosen Motability and gyrofield Medecins Sans Frontieres.

The FOOTSTEP compilation, curated by OBL/QUE, makes its return. This second installment consists of two separate releases: the first, consisting of 5 tracks, focuses on Drum'n'bass, Jungle and Footwork; while the second, available a week later and consisting of 4 tracks, explores sounds ranging between Dubstep, Breaks and Techno. All the producers involved come from Sardinia, demonstrating once again the solidity and steady growth of the Sardinian bass music scene, which continues to involve new realities and already well-known artists.

La compilation FOOTSTEP, curata da OBL/QUE, fa il suo ritorno. Questo secondo capitolo è costituito da due uscite separate: la prima, composta da 5 tracce, si concentra su Drum'n'bass, Jungle e Footwork; mentre la seconda, disponibile una settimana dopo e composta da 4 tracce, esplora sonorità che spaziano tra Dubstep, Breaks e Techno. Tutti i produttori coinvolti provengono dalla Sardegna, dimostrando ancora una volta la solidità e la costante crescita della scena bass sarda che continua a coinvolgere nuove realtà e artisti già noti.

It blends diverse influences from neo-grime to techno and jersey with HEDO’s innovative body music. The EP also includes three remixes by renowned producers Entrañas, Manao and oldyungmayn, raising expectations for the new era of hybrid club.

Dopo l’ultima serata di fine Febbraio, salva di pochissimo, l’immagine dei mesi a venire, con un calendario già pieno di eventi e ospiti internazionali, è diventata prima offuscata e poi definitivamente bruciata. La fine del tunnel ancora non si vede e di sicuro non arriverà chiara e luminosa come in molti si aspettano. Nel nostro piccolo quello che possiamo fare è adattarci attivamente, senza fermarci, cercando di ragionare e condividere lo spazio che abbiamo creato in questi mesi, mettendo al centro quello che più ci sta a cuore: la musica e i legami che crea. Per questo abbiamo provato a compiere uno sforzo collettivo, cercando nuove connessioni per contribuire alla situazione attuale con la stessa energia di sempre.
Iniziato come un contest tra producers e beat makers, Unity è diventato una compilation, che raccoglie diversi stili tra i 160 e 175 bpm.

Ringraziamo sentitamente tutti i producer che hanno supportato la causa e hanno aderito mandando la loro musica per questo contest e Stranjah per aver messo a disposizione il suo ‘Stranjah Free Sample Pack Volume 1’.

Il ricavato della vendite verra devoluto interamente al “Fondo Emergenza Corona Virus - Cagliari” organizzato dall’ASCE ONLUS, in supporto delle persone più colpite dai mesi di lockdown.

After our last party at the end of February, magically safe, the image of the months to come, with a rich calendar of events and both international and national guests, became blurry at first, and finally burned. The end of the tunnel is not here yet, and it won’t be clear and bright as many hope. What we can do in our small reality is to slow down, without stopping completely, trying to think actively and to share the space we built in the last months, putting in the center what we love the most: the music and the relations it creates.
Because of this, we tried to make a collective effort, searching for new relations to contribute to the actual situation.
The project started as a contest for producers and beat makers, and became a compilation that collects several styles in a range between 160 and 175 bpm.

We are deeply thankful to all the producers which supported this project with their music, and to Stranjah for giving us the chance to use his ‘Stranjah Free Sample Pack Volume 1’.

All the proceeds will be donated to the Emergency Fund for Corona Virus - Cagliari, organized by the ASCE ONLUS, in support of all the people most affected by the lockdown.
