In 2021 Solarstone released with something rather special, named in honour of the legendary S3000 Akai Sampler which revolutionised electronic music production in the nineties. According to Solarstone “the creative use of samples in music production introduces a rich palette of sound-colour and diverse tonal elements…”. The track marked a revisitation of sample-driven Trance. Now Finland’s Peetu S (Spinnin’, Outburst, Perfecto, Borderline, High Contrast) puts a 138bpm tech-trance spin on S3000, keep its many sampled hooks (tribal congas, Star Trek ‘pings’ & vocal chants to name but 3)  in place with a thunderous rhythm section, throaty bass line & the addition of a bustling star-reaching synth phrase.

The Blizzard (a.k.a. Lars Nyheim and Tore Vatle Jensen) hail from Sørreisa, Norway and have been releasing brilliant records since 2007, most recently Pegmatite on ASOT and let’s not forget their 2019 single Molecular, on Pure Trance. 

Blue Hour is taken from Pure Trance Vol. 8, where it was Retouched by Solarstone – the Extended Solarstone Retouch is right here, alongside the wonderful previously unreleased Original Version which cruises along at a relaxed 127 bpm, with classic Blizzard melodies and grooves all present and correct.

The Blizzard - Blue Hour

Oussama Ben Mahmoud, better known as O.B.M Notion was born in Sfax, the second city of Tunisia in 1992.

The young North African has caused quite a stir on the uplifting scene with a unique style fusing classical and ultra positive trance themes. Since the age of 17, O.B.M Notion took inspiration from early Tiesto, Aly & Fila, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Sean Tyas, Sebastian Brandt and as a self taught DJ and producer he hasn't looked back since.

Through various original tracks and remixes on a selection of popular imprints, the 21 year old has managed to capture the ears of the leading stars in the scene such as the king of trance himself, Armin van Buuren and the Egyptian pharaohs Aly & Fila, earning him regular airplay on the globally adored ASOT (including Future Favourite) & FSOE radio shows. Also irish trance hero Sniejder is a firm supporter of his sounds along with Italian maestro Manuel Le Saux and many more.

The future for one of the most popular next generation names in trance is yet to be written, but O.B.M Notion is on the path to the higher realms of global trance music and is flying the flag for Tunisian trance!
