Konstantin Sibold delivers this week's Global Vibe Radio mix, offering a live recording from his performance at Klein Phönix Istanbul on 26 August 2022.

In the studio, just as in the DJ booth, Konstantin lives and breathes the idea that music is fluid and that setting constraints based on convention and expectation will only hinder musical personality. He moves fleet-footed between musical categories, with characteristic confidence and a quintessential style that shines through.

As a producer, Konstantin’s burgeoning reputation led to him being voted ‘Newcomer of the Year 2013' by the readers of Groove Magazine, ahead of other lauded acts from Recondite to Disclosure. In 2010, his debut vinyl Neuland was released on Salon RosiRec., receiving significant support from the Kompakt family. In 2011, his classic house release Leif/Mariam drew widespread acclaim, with tastemaker Move D acknowledging it to be one of his favorite tracks of that year.

Recently, Konstantin remixed Adriatique’s “Home” on Siamese and “Shake The World” on Afterlife’s VA which was also performed by Tale of Us at Tomorrowland. Konstantin was also featured in the overall round-up of the second weekend at Tomorrowland. For both of these tracks, he has gained support from the likes of Solomun, Tale Of Us, Adriatique, Joris Voorn, Magdalena, Kölsch, Denis Horvat, Innellea, Colyn, Kevin de Vries, Oostil, and among many others.  

Apart from performing at recent festivals such as Solomun +1 Opening Party at Pacha Ibiza, Tomorrowland, Awakenings, and the Paradies Garten Festival, Konstantin’s upcoming performance will be at Amsterdam’s Dance Event in October 2022.

An artists first ever release is always an exciting occurrence. In this case, its the Cabora EP by Ukrainian DJ and producer Angelov, whose tracks Solomun has played in many sets around the globe. This and the fact that Solomun passed the tracks on to a few of his high-tier DJ friends created quite a buzz on social media for the young artist. An EP with four rousing tracks now marks the beginning of Angelovs producer career. If this is the beginning, the future of this young artist sure looks promising.

Bari-based talent Fedele’s Obscura Music label continues to go from strength to strength as a pioneering platform for avant-garde techno music with a leftfield twist. Following a string of poignant releases earlier in the year, the label returns in November with a generous serving of its undeniably unique sound palate provided by a carefully handpicked selection of celebrated electronic names.

Heading the bill, label boss Fedele is joined by a worthy cast of adversaries, including Damon Jee, Stephan Barnem, Works of Intent, Odd Oswald, VNTM, Rez Dorsia, Golden Virgo, Emitr, Juanito State, and Dustin Holtsberry.

Spanning thirteen tracks, The Sound Of Obscura takes you on a spirited journey through a myriad of different genre-loosened vibes. Mid a multitude of talented artists, you suddenly find one, who is unlike the rest. A preeminent composer, Soel's music evokes a feeling in the listener, that is at once both completely alien and deeply familiar.
Milanese electronic composer and DJ, Soel, fell in love with music at a young age, having grown up with his father's endless vinyl collection, and it was at 14 years of age, after watching the film ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’  and its accompanying soundtrack by John Williams, that he knew a career in music would be his calling. Soel began to produce music in his adolescence, using music samples representing his originality and changing from house and dark disco to minimal to techno. His music quickly grew support from a cadre of techno artists including Tale of Us, Carl Cox, Adriatique, Solomun, Âme, Dixon, John Digweed, Luciano, just to name a few...

Originally from Bari, South of Italy, Fedele Ladisa is part of the emerging wave of DJs and producers who are eager to explore new territories of electronic music. Since his youth, when he learned how to play with instruments such as piano and violin, music has always been his mission. 

In 2006, he entered the universe of DJing and started performing in dierent clubs around Italy. With Hip Hop, R’N’B, Soul, and Nu-Disco music as initial backgrounds, he soon developed an ever-growing and free-spirited interest in House and Techno’s unpredictable variety of soundscapes. His penchant for electronic music drove him to master the universe of synthesizer techniques and drum machines and to start making his own music.

Following an enthusiastic debut release “No Mercy for Beginners” on the Canadian label Turbo, he decided to quit the ambitious project Agents of Time in which he was the frontman for 7 years, and to go on his own.

He further enriched his ongoing solo career releasing music on Ellum Audio, Obscura which he owns now, and several remixes for some of the biggest acts in the electronic scene such as GOOSE, Stephan Bodzin, etc.

Running also his electro alter ego Sharp Felon to explore sonorities in which danceoor-oriented substance and underground-driven spirit are the key engines to dene the strict rules and standardized areas of electronic dance musicality, he released his rst record “Let The Game Begin” on Lone Romantic.

The result of those big achievements led him to perform at internationally recognized festivals as well as infamous clubs around the globe and to receive massive support from the likes of Maceo Plex, Tiga, Tale of Us, Dixon, John Digweed, Miss Kittin, Dj Stingray, etc.

Driven by devotion for the underground pioneers and a yearning for forward-thinking sounds, Fedele’s own DJ sets herald a stream of compelling and emotive beats and textures, always irrespective of the preconceived mainstream inclinations

Exploring the tension between maximal impact and subliminal experimentation, Fedele presents an uncompromising vision of modernist machine music. His sound fuses the edgy sonic tweaking of electro, the motorik thrust of techno and complex emotional expression which draws on his roots as a trained violinist.

Hailing from Bari in Southern Italy, Fedele’s career to date has taken in every dimension of the global dance music megastructure, and yet his direction has always been focused on originality and sincerity. As a young local DJ playing hip-hop, RnB and soul, on a voyage of discovery in the peak 00s years of minimal techno and through to his position as an established international artist, the music comes before everything else. His first steps as an active participant within the techno scene were within live, hardware-powered trio Agents Of Time, which led to releases for Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant, Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio, Tale Of Us’ Afterlife and on their own Obscura. 

In a natural evolution, Fedele forged his own path away from the group, releasing his first solo works on Tiga’s Turbo label and retaining Obscura as a platform for his own productions and those of kindred spirits sharing his creative vision. As Obscura continues to evolve as a label, Fedele equally broadens the possibilities within his own work, maintaining close ties with Ellum Audio and Afterlife, remixing artists such as Stephan Bodzin, nurturing his more experimental electro tendencies as Sharp Felon and exploring other avenues of expression such as live soundtrack work with director Alessandro Piva. The core of his practice remains an intuitive connection to hardware-based production and performance – an expressive extension of his heart and soul transmitted through circuits and wires and out through the system. 

As well as a producer and live act, Fedele is a prolific DJ found in any of the significant, iconic parties you might care to mention from around the world. It’s telling that some of his many back-to-back experiences are with pioneering titans including Miss Kittin and DJ Hell to name but a few – artists whose sound chimes with Fedele’s own, but crucially those who forged their own paths and set the tone for huge movements within electronic dance music. 

As that calibre of artist makes their mark through conviction, individuality and perseverance, so Fedele is doing the same.
