BTS collective is back with the fourth release on their label: ‘Selem’ EP by MERVH. The Turkish-born, Warsaw-based producer makes her debut with a 3 track digital EP backed with remixes from Violent, HATELOVE, and Sekulahr.
The release opens with ‘She Is Gone’ in which haunting vocals that establish an elegiac tone drift over an entrancing beat, up till a cathartic indurstialesque climax. The atmosphere becomes even more dense on „The Death Was Near” where fast and heavy drums meet melancholic yet ecstatic pads, urging for a frantic dance. MERVH downs the tempo again into industrial mode on the final original track ‘Endless Longing’ which finishes off with an epic synth line. Violent’s cinematic rework of ‘She Is Gone’ continues the sublime atmosphere in a complex yet smooth 8-minute composition that takes the listener on a purgatory journey. Next up, HATELOVE reinterprets ‘The Death Was Near’ into a merciless galloping banger in his signature style. The final remix is Sekulahr’s stepping and atmospheric rendition of ‘Endless Longing’ which eventually turns into trance mode for a grand finale. In memory of Selem.

Swarm Intelligence continues to push techno into unchartered territories with a bold new self-titled EP and label that launches in early 2022. This Dublin-born artist has already established himself as part of the techno underground with critically acclaimed LPs and EPs on labels like Voltax, 47 and Instruments of Discipline, and standout sets at meccas like Berghain. His distinctive sound comes from over a decade of releases spanning multiple genres and tempos. A resolutely non-conformist approach to his productions has earned him a reputation as a true trailblazer in the realm of techno. He does it all from rhythmic noise to brutal and bleak, and now takes the next step with the launch of his label. Swarm Intelligence will be reserved for his own material and give him full control of his artistic vision across both digital and vinyl. This new EP explores emergent technology and dystopian themes. Autonomous weaponry is hinted at in the title of the first two tracks before the resultant human resilience of 'The Glory Is You,' and finally AI's awakening and gaining of sentience on 'Edge of Chaos'. Opener 'Lethality' is an intense and arresting weapon. Slamming kicks and frosty synths create a wall of impenetrable techno sound that will strike fear into any dance floor. 'Slaughterbot' is just as punishing and dark. Mangled vocals are locked in a prison of caustic synths and tortured drums as a post-apocalyptic meltdown plays out all around. There is subtle drum funk to 'The Glory Is You' that lifts you above the drama. Lithe kicks bring a sense of energy as haunting sequences, bright stabs and fizzing synths weave their way in and out of the mix. The brain-frying 'Edge of Chaos' closes down with monstrous effects, laser-like synths firing across the track and seriously weighty and distorted drums powering things along. Swarm Intelligence is the sound of an unknown techno future made brilliantly real.

Geo Balasta est un irréductible gaulois, ancré dans le tellurisme de nos régions. Il produit des strates de matières sonores pastorales avec lesquelles il joue pour faire une techno sédimentaire.

L’aspect Géologique de Balasta ne fait aucun doute, il travaille chaque track jusqu’à sa presque saturation rajoutant couche après couche, créant ainsi des montagnes électroniques.

À un moment ou tout s’accélère, ce charpentier technoïde décide d’appuyer encore plus fort avec une musique directe et intense. Nous pouvons y voir une certaine forme de fatalité, mais aussi un réel désir d’abandon, provoquant un rapport purement physique de sécrétion de liquide biologique.

Mais ne vous y trompez pas, derrière ces différentes strates se cache une vision des jours et des nuits remplies d’humour, il joue avec ces matières minérales pour mieux évoquer les bêtes qui les arpentent. Des paysages sonores riches et frontaux par lesquels il nous pose la question de notre contemplation ou de notre participation.

Pour les remixes, il convie sa famille musicale à étendre les champs topographiques.

Geo Balasta is an irreducible Gallic, rooted in the Telurism of our regions. He produces strata of pastoral sound matter with which he plays to make sedimentary techno.

There's no doubting Balasta's geological aspect, as he works each track to its near- turation, adding layer upon layer, creating electronic mountains. 

At a time when everything is accelerating, this technoid carpenter decides to push even harder with direct, intense music. We can see in this a certain form of fatality, but also a real desire for abandonment, provoking a purely physical relationship of secretion of biological fluid.

But make no mistake, behind these different strata lies a vision of days and nights filled with humor, playing with these mineral materials to better evoke the beasts that roam them. Rich, frontal soundscapes in which he asks us to contemplate or participate.

For his remixes, he invites his musical family to extend their tographic fields.

[PREMIERE] Kander - Analog Altitude Descent Unit [NFRBD11]

Scary Beautiful consisted of five DJ sets in which Nastia played pre-selected unreleased tracks by electronic music producers from all over the world that are now released as a compilation of five LPs via Nastia’s record label  ‘NECHTO’. 
The last instalment took place on the territory of one of Ukraine’s most monumental steel factories - ‘ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’, which dates back to 1934 when the first pig iron was produced. 85% of the manufactured products from Ukraine are exported to new construction sites in 65 countries and the plant annually produces 6, 000, 000 tons of steel. The final release of Scary Beautiful’s first season illuminates the industrial and raw energy of techno and consists of music tracks by producers from Japan, Ukraine, Hungary, Belgium, Brazil, Greece, and Scotland.
