Chapter http://joinchapter.com has teamed up with Rayna deNiord of San Francisco's artist platform, Modyfier http://modyfier.wordpress.com to launch Chapter's new music series, COMPOSITION_DISORDER. Based upon the blending of disciplines of similar mind and direction coming together as an inspiration of sorts, COMPOSITION_DISORDER features the artist's own uniquely conjured interpretations of dark, distorted but emotionally powerful ambient sound. By creating irregularity in compositional spaces the perspective of scale and the listener's place is shifted.

The first of the music series, Shadows Fall, is provided by The Sight Below http://ghostly.com/artists/the-sight-below, an alias of Rafael Anton Irisarri http://irisarri.org. He is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist, curator, producer and interdisciplinary artist based out of Seattle. The music of The Sight Below conjures half-remembered dreams and soft-focus sentiments with elegiac beauty; his compositions are emotionally spacious and mesmerizing ambient soundscapes intertwined with subtle pulsations. As a producer, he’s had remixes commissioned by The Naked And Famous, School of Seven Bells, and Pantha Du Prince. His original recorded works are widely published in over a dozen labels scattered across the globe, most notably Ghostly International (USA), Morr Music (DE), Touch (UK), and Room40 (AU). 

“Shadows Fall” was inspired by Chapter's own take on the potency of minimalism.  Interweaving layers of melancholic guitars and raw bass tones to ritualistic percussions, it focuses on the power of early industrial and post-punk aesthetics, amplifying and echoing Chapter’s own design inspiration.

LA-based electronic duo OOFJ are elated to announce the release of their sophomore album Acute Feast (April 21 on Ring The Alarm Records).

The brainchild of real-life couple Jenno Bjørnkjær and Katherine Mills-Rymer, the LA-based electronic duo OOFJ met in New York City while Bjørnkjær was working on music for Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia. This chance encounter developed into both a romantic and sonic chemistry that would eventually lead to the couple collaborating on music that formed the foundations of OOFJ.

Equal parts glamorous and nightmarish, with a glittery seductive tone to it, Acute Feast hints at the otherworldly, almost hyper-real world that OOFJ don’t just reside in, but have orchestrated.

London nightclub fabric and its in-house, artist-led label Houndstooth have released a huge, 111-track compilation of previously unreleased music.  #SaveFabric features tracks from Clams Casino, Skream, Machinedrum, Coldcut, Simian Mobile Disco, Clark, Howie B, µ-Ziq, Terry Francis, Mumdance, Caspa & Rusko, Roman Flügel, Route 94, and many other artists who all donated their music.

On 7th September, fabric’s license was revoked forcing the closure of one of the UK’s most important venues and adding to the 50% of clubs closed in London since 2008.  A court date for Fabric’s appeal hearing has been set for 28th November.  With proceeds going towards their ongoing campaign to re-open, purchasing the #SaveFabric Compilation – which costs just £9.99 – is a chance for fans of music, clubs, culture and nightlife to support fabric and Houndstooth.

Since 2004, Volker Bertelmann – aka Hauschka – has, steadily earned a remarkable reputation as a purveyor of imaginative, distinctive, prepared piano music. On What If – which finds him adding player pianos (also known as pianolas) to his arsenal – Bertelmann expands his range even further, defying expectations and delivering what is without a doubt his most ingenious album yet
While engaging with his trademark technique of utilizing unusual objects – art erasers, for example – to treat (or ‘prepare’) the piano, Hauschka also programmed parts for player pianos, exploiting the speed at which they could play, manipulating the resulting sounds, and building layers to emphasize a composition’s meter.
What If aims to provoke reflection beyond the musical sphere with the titles of the both the album and its individual tracks.
