Ryan Ayers began playing guitar at the age of thirteen. He attended Loyola Marymount
University and graduated with degrees in classical guitar performance and recording
arts. It was there that he began his studies with classical guitarist Martha Masters.

An active composer for over ten years, Ryan released his first record of ten original
pieces for guitar entitled ermita in 2011. In 2012, he published the corresponding sheet
music and tablature. These pieces employ classical guitar technique to explore the
reaches of steel string and finger style guitar. A gifted melodist, Ryan also likes to
experiment with gestures, textures, and rhythmic ideas in his compositions.

In addition to composing, Ryan records and produces recordings and albums for other
guitarists and solo instrumentalists.

War Jacket is a southern gothic quartet from Birmingham, Alabama. 

Founded by baritone ukulelist Caleb Chancey in 2010, the band has evolved through its early music, from a stripped-down, solo EP to soulful incantations with cellist Lori Cheng, electric guitar player Joel Madison Blount, and percussionist Alex Hinson. 

The quartet's communal sound taps into the sense of place you get in such a city as Birmingham – a haunted past, fatigued and tattering, a steely movement from day to day – but War Jacket’s songs don’t buckle under the black-blue themes. They are warm, tender, and resonant, nostalgic battle cries that balance out the somber. 

And if there’s a collective longing in War Jacket’s textured music, it’s undoubtedly for home. “When I was a kid, I’d crawl into bed at night, and I’d always wait for my dad to start playing his piano,” says Chancey. “For me music has always been a kind of a soundtrack for dreaming.” 

In April, 2014, War Jacket began tracking their upcoming full length. Produced by Brian T. Murphy (Sandra McCracken, The Lone Bellow, Greg Holden, Thad Cockrell) the sophomore LP is set to debut in Fall 2015.

He has projects produced by legends Tommy Simms (Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton) Charlie Peacock (Amy Grant, Switchfoot) and Steve Taylor (Newsboys).  He is also a songwriter and has penned songs recorded by Rebecca St. James and Plumb (both Gold Selling Artists).
