Following on from DJ Polo’s raucous, genre-defying statement, Look Back to Move Forward, Club Djembe friends and family don their best shirts and shoes for the VIP Lounge release.

Truly an all-star cast, VIP Lounge brings together a group of London-based producers all deeply rooted in the city’s ever-developing musical history: from Soulful House and UK Funky to the latest waves of Afrohouse, Amapiano and Funkyama. 

Paying homage to the more extravagant side of London’s underground house scene, the tracks are united by airy harmonies and sultry red-carpet grooves. But, even between the champagne flutes, they never lose an underlying sense of grit and bass-weight that keeps them all perfectly primed for the club.

Radhapriya marks her arrival to the boxout.fm recordings catalogue with 'Depresent'. As a relentless four of the floor beat and speculative synths keep the song propelling forward, Noni-Mouse employs one of her most characteristic methods: to stretch, sample and abstract the human voice so it transforms into a programmable instrument in and of itself. Myriad variations of her own vocal hooks all fall together in perfect harmony and arrangement like tetris blocks. And just like tetris, 'Depresent' feels methodical and devastating in its execution, as one single, resounding lyric, "Heartbroken from the pressure" is enveloped in a rubbery bassline and dizzying percussive details.

At its core, 'Depresent' is one hell of a dance tune, but it's also a moment of reflection, of introspection, and of acceptance. To know that while the pressure mounts, there can be space for liberation and letting go. Inspired by a recent heartbreak, the song is less of a pity party and more of a celebratory (and slightly melancholic) number to embody the spirit of things ahead. 'Depresent' finds its home on anxious, manic dancefloors and solitary headphone parties alike.

A mere hours-long link up between Mancunian legend Zed Bias and arguably one of India’s most exciting young talents - Stain - has conjured up ‘Delhi Birds’, a wobbling, chasmic bomb to fire up those tired old synapses. Named for the numerous birds that Dave (Zed Bias) heard while eating lunch upon his arrival to India’s capital, ‘Delhi Birds’, while lean in its nature, distillates the tough, urban landscape of this beguiling city into addictive, electrifying pulses. 

There’s an intoxicating funk present all through ‘Delhi Birds’ that will delight dance floor operators across the oceans and leave hordes of punters bouncing off the club walls. You’re advised to proceed with caution.

From new age footwork and jungle, eclectic electronic beats made through found sound to recordings on Indian streets and samples from field recordings, ‘Tribes’ has it all.
