Fresh for 2018 the ever pioneering Octave One are bringing us some brand new music for the new year. Using their much loved Random Noise Generation alias the upcoming release entitled 'N2 The Enfinate , contains a new single as well as a remake of 'Rock my Soul' in the form of the 'Reborn Vocal Remix'. 

The first Random Noise Generation release was 'Falling in Dub' in 1991 and sounding just as fresh 27 years later, ‘N2 The Enfinate’ is due for release this April.

For this single a retro energy has been explored in the title track 'The EnFinate', running parallel to a more contemporary groove and rolling, marauding baseline. The second track on the package, 'Rock my Soul' (Reborn Vocal Remix) starts with a strong intent and a weighty bassline paving the way for precise and bright chord stabs.

The single is taken from the new album 'Endustry', a full body of work encompassing 7 full length cuts, set for release in spring.

The next release on the always consistent Rhythmetic Records imprint comes from 12 Tones with a perfect debut release. 'Take You Away' is a great summer deep-house anthem. It's smooth and quite simple in approach with delightful melodic riffs and drum patterns, making it a fresh summer style production. 'Pathos' and the track live up to the title. A huge stabbing deep melody teams up with a simple male vocal appears at the peaks, while sullen sounds blend underneath perfectly. For deep-house fans this is a must. Solid work in this release by 12 Tones and Rhythmetic Records. Both tracks possess high quality with loads of variation in sound, perfect.

Octave One's set for us last year was phenomenal; the energy, setting and metronomic head twists made it a no-brainer for inclusion in our Best of 2014. If you're that way inclined, you can hear the story behind how Boiler Room helped relaunch their career in more depth over here [INSERT LINK TO MICHAIL INTERVIEW HERE], as relayed to Derek Plaslaiko and our very own Michail. Seven tracks from Moscow made it onto their new LP, due May 26th, of which "Afterglow" was arguably the strongest.
Much like the towering behemoth of "Blackwater", it's a synergy of styles; dozens of boxes chattering away to one another in harmony. Somehow the track manages to be both flinty hard and yet shimmering, the lead curdled and yet crystal-clear. It's dancefloor TNT, an emphatic return from the brothers Burden. Burn It Down indeed.

Jem Haynes is an artist completely at the pinnacle of his powers. Playing weekly for the last 8 years in Ibiza for We Love Space has enabled Jem to consistently rub shoulders with the great and the good of the global dance music community. He played a magical set for Carl Craig and his superlative 20 Years of Planet E showcase, whilst also playing countless closing sets at Space after Derrick May, James Zabiela, Visionquest, The Chemical Brothers and Joris Voorn.

Gigs at the UK’s finest establishments have included Fabric, Glastonbury festival, Manchester’s Warehouse Project and Sankeys, Leeds’ unrivalled house music soiree BacktoBasics and the internationally renowned Ministry of Sound in London, with global turns in China, Croatia, Hungary, Switzerland, Slovenia, the US and many more. Every dancefloor has been ridiculously responsive to the Haynes trademark sound, where house and techno collide in a furious frenzy.

Wasted Heroes 004 Mix - Jem Haynes

On this week’s Cadenza Music Source to Cycle podcast, we welcome a British DJ who has played a hugely pivotal part in house music’s development since the late 1980s.

Eddie Richards has been described as “Britain’s godfather of house & techno” by the clubbing magazine Mixmag, cutting his teeth on the London DJ circuit at the legendary Camden Palace in the 80s, and at important clubs like Clink Street and Heaven in London, and the Hacienda in Manchester.  One of the first DJs to ever champion house music, Eddie was a firm favourite on the UK rave scene, and over the years has become widely recognized as one of the founders of the often misinterpreted genre of tech-house.  Alongside Terry Francis and Nathan Coles, Eddie has been an integral part of the Wiggle nights for over 20 years now and also plays regularly at Fabric in London, as well as clubs all over the world.

Eddie also been producing right from the start of the house explosion, his Jolly Roger moniker released blueprint acid house in 1988/1989, and he’s consistently released records ever since.

Over a 15-year period Truesoul has set the standard for engaging and effective club music, drawing in fans from across the techno spectrum. A relentless dedication to quality means it’s logistically impossible for Adam Beyer to release music from all the impressive artists who send him tracks each year for Truesoul. This EP showcases four such outstanding cuts, all of which have been tried and tested in Beyer’s sets in recent months. Indeed, anyone who witnessed his deliciously groove-ridden daytime set at Sonus Festival in August (or listened via episode DCR370), would have already been treated to an unofficial preview of the release. 

Belgian’s Ramon Tapia kicks the EP off in superb style with ‘Hexagon’, an energetic slice of techno that builds towards a pumping finish. Fast rising Manchester duo OC & Verde team up with Italian producer Veerus for ‘Naaki’, the track highlighted by a rousing call-to-arms vocal that saw it go down a storm during Beyer’s annual gig on the Amnesia Terrace for Cocoon in Ibiza. The beautiful vocal-led ‘Take My Life’ follows courtesy of Spaniard Marc Marzenit, adding an extra dimension to the release, while still having enough percussive fizz to keep the dancefloor moving. Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri is another emerging talent to create waves in 2017 and he delivers the knockout blow with ‘Sugar Lips’, a chunky soul-infused offering that’ll be effective in house and techno sets alike.

Techno is a family affair.

Arriving onto the electronic scene with "I Believe", featured on the monumental (10 Records) compilation "Techno 2: The Next Generation" (alongside Carl Craig, Marc Kinchen, and Jay Denham) in 1990, Octave One is the brainchild of the phenomenal native sons of Detroit, MI (USA), the Burden Brothers. The core unit of the band, made up of Lenny and Lawrence Burden (with revolving members of Lynell, Lorne, and Lance Burden), have had the privilege of bringing their high energy live shows to many parts of the world, including Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, UK, and the USA, among many other places.

The brothers have released groundbreaking dance anthems on their own Detroit based record label, 430 West Records. Including DJ Rolando's "Jaguar", Random Noise Generation's "Falling in Dub" (the other Burden brother moniker), Aux 88's "My A.U.X.
