Getting Closer Feat. Hi Levelz /FREE DL

(my entry to CDR x Dimensions competition 2016)
This one’s for that sunrise when you feel inexplicably fresh, and the rising sun reveals the wholesome beauty of nature once more, renewed. The birdsong sample I use at the start and the end really provided me with inspiration for the rest of the track, in quite an abstract sense - it encapsulates that whole excited, optimistic morning feeling.

I aimed to express this through the restless energy of the arpeggiated synth line and the gradual gathering of layers of percussion, shedding them in the middle for a breath of air before resuming with a new, broken beat.

I used Ableton Live 9 and a Novation MIDI keyboard. The Local Audio sample used is Ptica, from this years’ entries.

I made this track to remember me those moments spent on that beach-hot-stones admiring the fabulous sunset announcing the beginning of a step in the Dimensions' nights.

I used for that my computer with few sample, a microphone, a bass and a guitar.

I started with arpeggiated celesta sounds, then laid down a couple of piano chords. Tweaked the saxophone sample over the straight kick drum followed by the little jazzy improvisation i played on the piano. 
Moogy bass seemed to be a good addition to the items above and it brought a sort of feeling of a music being played live.  Different samples formed different percussion grooves for the whole track.

Never been to Dimensions, but to me, the most beautiful part of the day at the festival probably would be the late evening, you still have some daylight emotions but everything is flowing into the night. I tried to capture this state in my track, starting with mellow piano and atmospheres, then going straight to the dark vibes of the night.

ну і точно ше співали
з часом грались як бажали - 
то пускали то лапали... ли лилилили

тук тук, відчиняй двері і підіймайся
кротяча інспекція — не ухиляйся
ні світла ні темряви у твоїм домі
ні вдиху ні видиху.
та та, в крижану воду тебе пустили
нема духу вибратись, забракло сили
як сніг на голову — інформаційна
буба у голові.

бо ми собі окремо так жили мило.
