This DJ mix set was inspired by my years of admiration of Richie Hawtin and his truly unique mixing style.  My recent trip to Amsterdam for ADE and being able to catch a portion of one his sets inspired me to create something different than what I usually do.  I've been listening to Richie for decades both live and online. His one-of-a-kind sound has always amazed me.. While I'm not the artistic genius he is and also don't have his truly unique gear selection for performances, I've done my best representation here of his style:  mixing 4-on the floor, proper and somewhat classic sounding techno with lots of quick cuts, surprise transitions and no shortage of effects and "DJ tricks".  This set starts average paced at just under 140 BPM but soon ramps up to faster (than my normal) at over 150 BPMs. I hope you enjoy this set and my attempt to emulate a legend.  p.s. Mtrex is a Dutch techno dj/producer with decades of underground experience and a deep-rooted passion for electronic music. His journey began in the late ’80s, discovering house and techno on the dancefloor before joining pirate radio station Discoaction, where imported US dance records shaped his taste and vision.
