Regarding the edit of José Afonso's song "vejam bem" (meaning "take a good look") and it's release on this date, 25th of April, it represents a most significant event. Portugal has been under dictatorship for more than 40 years, up until 1974. During that period, José Afonso's music became forbidden due to it's revolutionary and inspiring nature. This artist was so gifted and had such influence, through his being, art and thinking, that was considered a constant threat to the state. One of the most iconic stories in Portuguese culture, comes from the fact that the Revolution was triggered trough one of his songs, "Grândola Vila Morena", played trough the radio! 
After taking over the radio stations, the revolutionaries played this song to make it possible for others to know what it had began. It was the end of big period of violence, social and cultural degradation and censorship in Portugal, and without any casualties or shots fired. The people's revolution, made with art and peace. Since then, the Portuguese have done an epic effort to become a strong and beautiful country, with Freedom and Love to offer to those who visit us.

The World needs Revolution. Otherwise, there won't be a planet for future generations. It is our time now. With our Music and Love.

António Variações was a Portuguese singer and songwriter who rose to prominence in the 80s with his unique, eclectic and absolutely amazing musical style!
Known for his flamboyant stage presence, wearing bold and colorful outfits with his distinctive hairstyles, Variações's music was a fusion genres, from rock, pop, folk, and his magic and influence continues to these days, making him one of the most beloved figures in Portugal's cultural history!
Fun fact is that before he became a musician, he was a famous barber in Lisbon!

Octo Friends #68 - NAD!N

Ir e Vir (Birdzzie Edit) marks the debut release of Postas de Pescada, a label dedicated to reimagining Portuguese folk through electronic reinterpretation.

Each release is curated by Mike Stellar, our head honcho, crate digger, and sonic archaeologist — digging through dust and poetry to unearth the songs that still pulse today.

The original track “Ir e Vir” was recorded by Grupo de Acção Cultural (G.A.C.) in the years following the 1974 Portuguese Revolution. Formed in the wake of the dictatorship's fall, G.A.C. was a collective of musicians, poets, and activists who gave voice to the hopes and struggles of a changing Portugal, blending traditional melodies with political urgency.

At the heart of “Ir e Vir” lies a stark portrayal of the life of Portuguese fishermen: waking before dawn, braving the sea, and returning with little more than exhaustion. The lyrics speak of labour without dignity, of bodies spent for profits that never reach them. In this edit, those words echo differently but no less urgently. 

Today, it’s often artists who navigate a similarly extractive system: streaming economies, unpaid gigs, exposure in place of income. Ir e Vir becomes not just a chronicle of past injustices, but a mirror for the present: a reminder that the rhythms of exploitation shift form, but rarely fade.

In this edit, Birdzzie, a portuguese producer known for ambient depth and hypnotic downtempo rhythms. slows the track to a reflective pace, bringing its message into a spacious, electronic landscape. This isn’t just an edit; it’s a respectful act of sampling tradition and transforming it for new ears and contexts.

[Premiere] I'm Mady - Bassgeflüster [Art of Downtempo]

"The Clapping Song" is an American song, written by Lincoln Chase, originally arranged by Charles Calello and recorded by Shirley Ellis in 1965, shortly after Ellis had released "The Name Game".
The song returned to the charts when the British pop-rock band “The Belle Stars” covered the song in 1982, on their self-titled LP. Their version charted at number 11 in the UK, and number 4 in Australia.
In our edit we kept some original vocals but we added some electronic beats and modular bass to create fresh and high vibes. The result is an instant classic for every dancefloor.

About Chalanga:
Chalanga is an italian duo composed by DJ and producer Patrick Di Stefano and multi-instrumentalist Diego Grassedonio. Their project blends the energy of electronic music with the evocative power of live instruments: afro-futuristic percussions, psychedelic flutes and the shamanic presence of the saxophone.

An electronic, organic, and acoustic sound exploration.

After their first collaboration in 2022 with the EP Maa Kuuluu, Vinzoo and Qosqi reunite for a new, sensitive and atmospheric project: SU FO, a subtle blend of electronic textures and live instruments.

This 5-track EP offers an introspective journey where machines converse with matter. Between enveloping synthetic layers, soft percussions and finely integrated acoustic instruments, each piece constructs an immersive atmosphere, halfway between the intimate and the dreamlike but still anchored in reality. Machines and instruments speak to each other in a sensitive, sometimes minimalist, always sincere language.

Far from the strict codes of a genre, SU FO draws a free line, somewhere between downtempo and electro-organic. It's an invitation to relax, to deep listening. Each piece weaves a link between human and environment, with hybrid styles that escape labels. This project invites an inner journey, a gentle drift, and attentive listening.

With a consistently sincere and artisanal approach, Vinzoo & Qosqi affirm their artistic partnership, combining refined sound design and acoustic spontaneity.
