About this journey :
Ok, so I really didn't know where to start since I haven't recorded something in a looooonnggg time. However, when I was listening to Planet Caravan's Remix of my track Eleven Will Dust Lucas, I figured that I should just hit the record button and see where my mood was going to take me.
I remember I really loved the flow I was in from the moment I hit the record button, but wasn't sure afterwards if it was any good since there's no feedback from a crowd or anything. So I decided to take a listen to the mixtape when I was out on one of my regular Sunday strolls and I think it came out great. This one should really be played loud. It's a bit obscure, hence the name, but really fitting for a dancefloor. So hope you'll enjoy this mixtape just as much as I did when listening back to it.

Although this little gouache by Pablo Picasso has been mistakenly identified as a study for his most inventive work, Les Demoiselles D'Avignon, it is really a preliminary work for Nude with Cloths, a painting painted shortly after. However, while some scholars place the execution of the Study in the winter of 1906-1907, it is most likely that it took place in Paris during the summer of 1907, when the painter was working on the painting. Nude with Cloths is a solitary depiction of the second female figure in Les Demoiselles, in which she extends the concept of the veil dance. If the geometric composition of Les Demoiselles is considered a "reaction" of Picasso to Derain's Bathers, which shocked him at the Salon des Indépendants in March 1907, in this Nude, the painter "challenges" the rhythms of Matisse's Blue Nude, exhibited in that same exhibition. The nude dancer moves like a medium, bewitched by some mysterious music, in a gesture delivered with her eyes closed. On the other hand, her movement reveals more to us than meets the eye and, as Pierre Daix puts it, Picasso manages to create "only with her rhythms a true depth." With this innovative solution, the artist not only solves the problem of painting in three dimensions, but also unstoppably begins the path towards cubist language.

Lipo beschreibt sich selbst als Percussion Enthusiast. Sein musikalisches Konzept beinhaltet u.a. hüpfende Rhythmen und epochale Melodien und bewegt sich vorrangig im Downtempo Bereich. In seiner Diskografie finden sich aber auch progressive House und Techno Exemplare. „Angefangen als Gitarrist der seine Wurzeln im Psyrock verordnet, bedient er sich gerne orientalischer Tonleitern, die mit westlicher, elektronischer Musik vereint ein verträumtes, aber auch energetisches Klangbild erzeugen.
Lipo ist Gründungsmitglied des Wiener Kollektivs "Unlock Me", welches sich neben Clubveranstaltungen, besonders in den letzten Jahren auch auf die freie und schonende Nutzung des öffentlichen Raumes fokussiert hat.“ 
Dieser Podcast bewegt sich zwischen 100 und 108 BPM. Die Tracks sind zu jeder Zeit dynamisch, dadurch kann sich die Musik, trotz teilweiser untypischer Geschwindigkeit, ohne spürbaren Energieverlust entfalten. Kurzgesagt die kommenden 97 Minuten sind ein Sammelsurium nah östlicher Melodien und Gesänge, welche mit springenden Bässen und treibenden Percussion Sounds kombiniert wurden.

KataHaifisch Podcast 272 - Lipo

On that sunny morning in late August, Lalita - the tree nymph – woke up when the first sunrays kissed her cheek.  She immediately looked at the little oak tree next to her bed of moss and – like every other morning - checked whether everything was OK with the tiny tree, which was only 3 feet high but destined to live for 1000 years and become the future Mother Tree of the witch’s forest.  It’s been 2 years now since Lalita arrived in Flanders after an epic 2-year walk from her home soil in South-East Asia, with only one lifelong mission : protect the little oak tree.
After getting up, she went to hug and cuddle the badgers who live in a circular network of tunnels around the little tree.  At that moment, she saw something unusual in the corner of her eye. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw it was a fully grown banana tree.  She started to chuckle spontaneously, as a banana plant in a forest in Flanders is a really weird sight.
As Lalita doesn’t allow herself to move more than 100 yards away from the oak tree, she dispatched Bob The Owl to call Hekske – the little witch – and Falke – the 9-year old witch apprentice.  A few minutes later, the 2 witches arrived at the scene and looked at the banana tree in awe.  It felt like a birthday gift for Falke, who happened to turn 10 on that very day.  After realizing it was Falke’s birthday, Lalita gave 27 hugs and kisses to the ever-smiling blond-haired witch apprentice.  After this intermezzo, the girls turned their attention to the banana tree, especially to its fresh green leaves, which were in sharp contrast with the dusty brown colors which were now dominating the forest, as a result of an unprecedented drought which started back in June and showed no signs of ending.  Several wells had dried up and some trees were even shedding their brown leaves.  Many herbs, animals and insects had died because of a lack of water.  It was a very tough summer for the forest dwellers.  Meanwhile Lalita caressed the banana tree, as memories came back from her childhood in South-East Asia, when she sheltered every day from the torrential rains under a banana tree leaf.
The 3 girls sighed and the lack of rain weighed heavier than ever.  The arrival of the banana tree was surely a good omen and the girls decided to do a rain dance.  But just as they were about to shuck off their clothes and start dancing, Bob The Owl landed on Hekske’s hand.  He had an urgent message to convey, as a visitor had just entered the forest.  And he was not human, which is why the guard animals didn’t chase him away (like they always do with human intruders).  Hekske told Bob The Owl to show their guest the way.  And 15 minutes later, the girls welcomed their guest.  He was obviously a wizard, as he was wearing a long black cloak.  He looked very young, just a teenager.  His shiny skin was soft and pale, in contrast with his black hair and mesmerizing black eyes.  He was obviously very shy, as it was the first time he ever saw a witch or nymph.  Lalita immediately prepared oriental herbal tea to welcome their guest.  A little later, they all sat down in a circle on the soft moss and introduced themselves while sipping tea.  The boy appeared to be only 13 years of age and he came from the Caspian Hyrcanian forest, a lush mixed ecosystem near Mount Damavand on the southern side of the Caspian sea.  He introduced himself as Esfandiar (اسفنديار,) - a Persian name which means ‘pure creation’.  The little witch got very curious as she had never met a witch or wizard from that part of the globe.  Then she asked whether he knew a magic spell to make rain…

Sʌη Miguel (https://soundcloud.com/san-miguel-berlin) presents "Quersumme 9" Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 243

Unsere Nr. 243 kommt heute von San Miguel, der durch seine unzähligen, geschichtsartigen Sets und Produktionen über die nationalen Grenzen bekannt ist. Schließlich bewegt sich sein verspielter, gar schon entspannter Sound irgendwo zwischen Traum und Tanz, der sich deutlich von der der Masse abhebt. Dabei zeigt er eine große Vorliebe für organische Tracks. Hier ein Streicher, da eine verzaubernde orientalische Stimme, ja das passt. Nicht umsonst ist Oli aka San Miguel ein gefragter Künstler. Dabei kann er mehr als nur Chillout, wie er mit seinem Set eindrucksvoll zeigt. Neben dem Musizieren ist er auch Mitglied und Gründer des bekannten Labels https://soundcloud.com/monada-project, welches wohl jeder von euch kennen sollte. Zumindest all diejenigen, die sich für organischen Downtempo interessieren.

Das eingespielte Set ist eine herrlich ‚afterhoureske‘ Reise ins Dickicht der melodischen und verträumten elektronischen Musik geworden. Angereichert mit einem Schuss an Deepnes und Extase, verleiht er der Aufnahme eine ungewohnte Tiefe und Verbindlichkeit, die kaum einen Fuß ruhig stehen lässt. Zudem spart er auch nicht an einer Menge an verschickten Momenten, die auf keiner After fehlen sollten. Wie zum Beispiel ab Minute 30. Einfach nur großartig. Zugleich behält das Set aber über weite Teile der Aufnahme die entspannte Grundstimmung. Wohl auch wegen des durchgängig reduzierten Tempos, welches die jeweiligen Tracks erst zur ‘wahren‘Entfaltung kommen lassen. Ab der Mitte schraubt aber San Miguel kontinuierlich an dem Bpm Regler und erhöht von Lied zu Lied den Druck. Er macht es sich sprichwörtlich auf der Tanzfläche gemütlich und will dann auch nicht mehr fort. Absolut nachvollziehbar, aber auch überraschend, denn damit haben wir tatsächlich nicht gerechnet. Spaß macht es aber trotzdem ungemein, den die Tracks sind absolut stimmig aneinandergereiht und verleihen der Eingangs beschreibenden Dringlichkeit enormen Auftrieb, die bis zum Ende erhalten bleibt.

Egal ob Hypnose, Tanz oder pure Emotionalität, es erwartet euch definitiv eine durchweg kohärente Geschichte durch Olis Sounduniversum der Afterhour. Definitiv Musik, die man quasi zu jedem Anlass hören und erfahren kann. 

Wir danken dir vielmals Oli für dieses besondere Set. Sinnlich umwerfend und unverschämt gut. Wenn Unikat, dann Hier. Chapeu.

At first the young wizard was clueless, but then he suddenly remembered the small flacon which an old Persian leopard had given him back in the Caspian Hyrcanian forest.  He took the small bottle in his hand and sensed the energy.  Esfandiar felt that this mysterious liquid could bring a solution, but the leopard hadn’t explained how to use it.
Then the young wizard took his magic wand.  It was made from a special kind of wood from the Caspian Hyrcanian forest and looked very unusual.  It also felt very unusual.  Falke was surprised how soft the wood was, while in complete contrast Hekske found it unusually hard, despite touching exactly the same area of the stick.  So this fascinating wand was soft and hard at the same time.  The girls had never felt such a thing.  Then Esfandiar’s attention turned back to the little flacon.  He sensed that it was time to open it.  All she girls could smell the powerful fragrance … a delicate mix of zaaferon (saffron), golpar (persian hogweed) and zardchoobeh (turmeric).  Then the young wizard let one drop fall on the ground.  It immediately produced a small white cloud.  Then Esfandiar got an idea. He poured the remaining liquid on his magic wand, which he pointed towards the sky.  For a few seconds nothing happened but then all of a sudden the wand took off and flew straight into the sky with a loud hissing sound, like a rocket.  Finally it exploded into a large white cloud high in the sky.  Within seconds, there was the rumbling sound of thunder while the cloud grew bigger and darker…

The rāga saga is a series that acts as a cultural collectiva of our favourite artists from all over, Each raga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "colour the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience and this special journey (raga) comes from the lovely duo of @pullichomba Electronic music Producers based between Santiago de Chile and Berlin. Organic, melodic and groovy vibes after having released on Released on - down. Underyourskin Records, Hug Records, Shango Records, Hupupa, Obenmusik, Tchamma Yapu, Kompáz, Austral Kollektiv

When Pulli & Chomba met barefoot on the most famous beach of Berlin's Club scene in 2017, it was immediately clear, that their love for electronic music unites them. The fusion of German and Chilean sounds brought them on the tingling path to their own productions. Mostly organic and from time to time also a bit more intense and darker, they put your hearts to dance - preferably under a soap bubble rain.

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this edition we welcome Djjuliimmaï (@juliimmai)

djjuliimmaï‘s musical style is as capricious and diver- se as life itself. Variations of house and minimalism blend smoothly with ritualistic music from around the globe. 

His DEEP HYPNOTIC SOUNDS mesmerizes crowds, turning the dance floor into a spiritual place. The element of hypnosis is key in Juli‘s idea and performance of electronic music.

Born 1982 in Lübeck, serendipitously on the day of a massive city festival, it didn‘t take very long for Juli to become a resident DJ at the Lübecker Eishaus Club at the age of 18.

After moving to Berlin in 2006, he was deeply inspired by a then rapidly evolving techno scene. Heavily influenced by the famous Bar 25 and the Fusion Festival, djjuliimmaï took his experience to Freiburg, then run- ning the White Rabbit Club. 

From there, in 2016, the record-spinning hypnotist launched his own series of club & festival events Moody Music and Kundalini Express.

The events also took off internationally and djjuliimmaï fell in love with the Hungarian music scene. He spent years there, maintaining the local underground music scene by organizing events in plenty of Hungarian venues for electronic music: › Feszek › Kert › Lärm › il Panorama.

This included curation, sound engineering, lighting- & stage design, and also catering. Because of his deep love for festivals, Juli‘s most cherished moments were his performances at the Sziget Festival, Taka Tuka and the Ozora Festival, where he‘s been a resident DJ ever-since.

Afterhour Sounds Nr. 277 comes from Hungary, more specifically the beautiful city of Budapest. Thank you djjuliimmaï‘ for this beautiful mix from outta space aka "an alien lovestory".

Born in Lübeck (Germany) he is a long-term DJ in Budapest growing underground scene and resident at world-famous festival like Ozora and Sziget. His musical style is diverse, deep and driving. Combining house with shamanic rhythms – mysterious, beautiful and special.

Perfect prerequisite for an after hour, right? That's what we thought, too …

✔️ What's your musical influence?
My musical style is as capricious and diverse as life itself.  Variations of house and minimalism blend smoothly with ritualistic music from around the globe. I try to mesmerize the crowd with deep, driving and eclectic sounds.

✔️ What your take on the perfect after hour?
I love hypnotic sets, yet therefore needs to be a certain atmosphere, the right kind of people, decoration, lighting, and a general love for dancing.

It's welcome to have kinda shamanistic or let's say ritual elements. 
It really has to go skin deep and gotta give me goosebumps!

At an Afterhour I like to be enchanted and drawn to another realm. 
There's nothing more delightful than dancing along your dearest on splendid beats and sending yourselves to trance.  Those are my wishes when being part of an audience.

Hence with my DJ sets I try to lay a foundation for this experience, still integrating those who might have different desires.  I want to reflect my own urge for extatic screaming in the middle of the dancefloor on my audience when I dj.

Yet it's something I wanna build up slowly but steadily, playing spherical sets instead of just cutting in outstanding tunes once in a while.

It's all about a sustainable development, and if you give in, it's gonna be much like meditation, hypnosis, fortune cookies, love and sex.  Constantly banging, creating a true synthesis of the arts right at the climax.

✔️ What have been your thoughts during the creation process of this set?
This mix is a journey through space and time, detached from any boundaries of electronic music.

Embody the cosmic currents of music by dancing barefoot on the carpet! I gave it the name "An Alien Love Story"
