EPM continues celebrating 20 Years of Music with a new compilation featuring exclusive tracks from the likes of Robert Hood, Regis, The Advent & Zein Ferreira, Carl Finlow, Detroit’s Filthiest, Bryan Chapman, Paul Mac, Arno Vancolen, Eddie Fowlkes, Jon Dixon, DJ 3000, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, W. Jeremy, James Ruskin, Luis Martinez and more.

To mark their 20th year EPM have released a series of EPs in 2021, each one focussing on a different genre. In May they brought you a deep dive of Techno masters with exclusive tracks from Robert Hood, Ben Sims, James Ruskin and Mark Broom each delivering their distinct production skills, whilst June saw the release of our second EP bringing together cuts by some of Electro’s leading lights - The Advent & (son) Zein Ferreira, Carl Finlow, Detroit’s Filthiest and Modulator (a.k.a. Freddie Fresh). Then at the end of July, the third EP in the series turned towards House music via the TechnoSoul innovator Eddie Fowlkes, Motor City modernizer, Jon Dixon, Motech Records’ founder DJ 3000 and Rico & Sonny, the pseudonym of the Chicago based DJ duo and production team of Adam Stolz and Tim Baker, recorded before his devastating and untimely passing.

Now ‘EPM20’ features all the tracks from the EPs plus additional cuts from a host of other artists and long-time EPM associates. The idea was to have 20 tracks for 20 years but in true clubland style we just had to sneak a ‘plus 1’ in at the end!

Kicking off the compilation we have a track that has indeed been buried in the mists of time. The aptly named ‘Beyond The Reach of Time Pt.1’ was “lost” down the back of the sofa, only to resurface some 20 years later as this unreleased gem from Karl O’Connor – aka Regis. Perhaps not fitting with the heavier “Regis” sound at the time, this finds Karl in a more emotional and string-laden mode, displaying a lighter production touch that’s more Detroit than Birmingham.

The techno, electro and house vinyl set of EPM20 – EP1, EP2 and EP3 are also available on bandcamp featuring 12 exclusive tracks.

Premiere: Regis "Beyond The Reach Of Time Pt.1" - EPMmusic

Our second premiere of the week comes from legendary techno producer Inigo Kennedy. The pioneering techno producer provides an off-kilter, dark and melodic masterpiece on his imprint, Asymmetric. 

Inigo Kennedy returns to his celebrated imprint on with ‘Abacus Frames’, a brand new EP featuring five previously unreleased tracks from the esteemed producer’s music vault.

The already highly anticipated release follows on from the widely praised ‘Eyes Closed in The Sun’ LP which Kennedy dropped in early September. ‘ The label, a haven to Kennedy’s most personal releases, and this latest offering remains true to this legacy, delving deep into the most mysterious recesses of his mind.

We premiere ‘Laterna Magic’ a  beautifully constructed track full of clever rhythms, alluring synths and rasping hi-hats intertwining.

This latest, evocative offering from Kennedy continues to demonstrate his endless artistry on his treasured imprint, Asymmetric

On Saturday,  April 2, 2022 REFORM will be taking over Catch One’s bustling bi-level venue with a 4-room House + Techno lineup. Located on Pico Avenue near Downtown Los Angeles, Catch One originally opened in 1973 and was the longest-running black gay dance bar in the city. It now serves as one of LA’s premiere multi-purpose venues, making it an ideal space for REFORM to host 20+ Techno, House, and Experimental artists across four rooms.

Dj and producer from Los Angeles, California, Force Placement is a resident DJ and founding member of The Black Lodge, an L.A. based event collective and record label that has been pushing mutant strains of underground dance music to the masses since 2015. Known for his versatility as a DJ and live PA artist, Jason’s performances run the gamut from soulful and cerebral house music to mind-bending acid techno.

The Road to REFORM 2022 Mix Series: Force Placement

I felt deeply inspired creating this mix for Refuge Worldwide with the chance to showcase the work of talented female artists, including members of the female:pressure community. 

I took a new, rather personal approach for the first time here; playing my own vocal samples live over the mix as a way to merge bits of my dormant songwriting with my set.

The duo first surfaced in 2011 with a release on their eponymous label and quickly established a reputation with releases across labels like Semantica, M_REC LTD or their own NX1 label.
