Souleance return with a brand new EP for First Word Records. Following the huge success of 'La Beat Tape' in early 2013, the French duo have been busy in the studio preparing a 6-tracker aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Souleance is the result of the partnership between producer Fulgeance (check his new LP 'Cubes') and DJ Soulist of legendary Paris event What The Funk. In 2008 they released their debut EP 'Le Monde' which along with follow up 'Le Plaisir' is one of First Word's all-time bestsellers. 2012 saw their debut LP 'La Belle Vie' released to widespread critical acclaim, winning them fans including Gilles Peterson, Lefto and Laurent Garnier. With an eye-catching live show now up and running (check their recent charismatic appearance on Boiler Room for evidence) Souleance are going from strength to strength.
The new EP is exactly what you'd expect from Souleance, taking in 80s influenced electro (Brotha, Broobecker & Vacances), audacious sample flips (Georgian Kiss), infectious-grooved hip hop (Mais Um) and up-tempo tropical beats (Tropicalidad). All six tracks are guaranteed club winners that only Souleance could deliver.

If you’re not sold on the name alone, then one listen alone should endear you to the charms of Breakfast Muff. The Glasgow-based three piece make short fuzzy pop song with a dark underbelly.

At 1 min 14 seconds ‘I Want to Want to’ is the shortest of all the tracks we’ve released this year (possibly ever? AIH historians?) but this also means it’s probably one of my most played - one listen is never enough. Songs that open with the line ‘I find it hard to tell you that, I want to die’, probably aren’t supposed to be this enjoyable but there’s something about the resigned nature of the chorus that is reassuringly uplifting. We’re all human after all.

Vor zehn Jahren erschien SAURUS, das zweite Album der Kölner Band LOCAS IN LOVE, wurde von Kritik und Publikum gleichermaßen geliebt und etablierte die Band als „beste unbekannte Band des Landes“. Im Kellerproberaum unter teilweise abenteuerlichen Umständen aufgenommen und in den USA mit The National-, The War on Drugs- und Interpol-Produzent Peter Katis gemischt und zur Vollendung gebracht, hatten LOCAS IN LOVE auf SAURUS ihre ureigene Art zu texten, Songs zu schreiben und ihren Bandsound gefunden.

Jetzt, zehn Jahre später, gibt es SAURUS endlich wieder auf Vinyl! Die Jubiläumsneuauflage auf staatsakt. ist mit umfangreichen Making Of-Chronicles ausgestattet, die neben - aus bodenlosen Souvenir-Kisten und von verstaubten Festplatten geborgenem - Bildmaterial und anderen Kuriositäten die damaligen Studioaufnahmen in Tagebuchform dokumentieren und Linernotes aller Bandmitglieder enthalten.

Tourannosaurus X:
Ab November gehen LOCAS IN LOVE auf Tour und spielen das Album SAURUS in voller Länge. Vielleicht wird es ein wenig nostalgisch, wie es automatisch passiert, wenn man zurückblickt und überrascht ist, dass zehn Jahre zurückliegende Dinge im eigenen Leben schon zehn Jahre zurückliegen. Aber in erster Linie wird es so aufregend, zeitlos und einzigartig wie schon vor zehn Jahren.
