In Dholuo, 'Mwolo' embodies humility, a cherished virtue within our community. Yet, the community often identifies more with 'nyadhi,' symbolizing pomp and splendor. Humble individuals, with their quiet demeanor, sometimes face intolerance, particularly when associated with shyness.

Humble people tend to avoid loud displays of emotion, which can be misinterpreted as a lack of concern by extroverts. They're often introverted and reserved in expressing their feelings, while extroverts are more open in sharing emotions.

Although some may mistake me for an extrovert, I lean towards introversion, humility, and shyness, especially around unfamiliar people. I reserve expressive gestures like giving flowers for those I trust deeply. I used to find such acts hollow until I learned otherwise.

This song is a personal statement on behalf of introverted, humble, and shy individuals like me, affirming that they're normal, not weak, and may excel in building lasting relationships due to their fear of starting anew.

I've stepped into the social arena to defend humble and shy people. Society promotes humility in the spiritual realm but leans towards pride and dominance elsewhere. I'm straightforwardly telling society: 'Just because I don't give flowers doesn't mean I don't care.' There are numerous humble ways to express appreciation.

This song, while relatively old, was born in less than 24 hours during a recording session. It advocates for simplicity and humility, reflecting its core message.

In Luo music culture, I incorporated vocalizations inspired by the haunting call of the Arum (Southern Hornbill) into my song, using it as an introduction and conclusion while the guitar echoes it throughout. The Arum symbolizes death in Luo folklore.

The song draws inspiration from Poxy Presha's term "polluticians," reflecting on corrupt leaders. The concept emerged when I witnessed a cash handout event on the highway, reflecting the disheartening influence of money in politics. This theme deepened when my cousin was tragically killed during the 2022 elections, a victim of political violence.

The song aims to address the youth, emphasizing that violence is linked to "polluticians" rather than blaming the youth. It encourages a deeper understanding of the offers presented by politicians and the real impact on society. The last verse serves as a poignant reminder of the tragic events surrounding my cousin's death.

Wadagi

This song, one of my oldest, has undergone an evolution in arrangement. Originally arranged in the Western verse-chorus-verse style, it now embraces the linear Benga format, inspired by the Benga "seben" concept, with the solo and rhythm guitars synchronizing with the snare drum  for a fresh and unique reminiscence.

A heartfelt conversation with My Love, a companion for over four decades, this song remains true to its origins, composed shortly after our meeting. Despite the passage of time, the lyrics retain their honesty, reflecting the enduring bond we share. Together, we've weathered life's highs and lows, grateful for each moment.
