Anne of the Wolves combine melodramatic folk, gypsy jazz noir and wistful pop, creating an original and haunting sound as varied as the emotions. 

Forged in the swelter of Melbourne’s eclectic live music scene in 2005, The Nymphs’ addictive blend of big band bombast, WWII-era ditties, soulful harmony and beguiling sense for the theatrical have seen them kick their matching heels into the hearts of audiences around the country.

With a timeless repertoire of their inimitably catchy original tunes as well as a handpicked selection of reinvigorated classics, The Nymphs (Bek Chapman, Jane Hendry, Kel Day and Clare Hendry) have added their own unique flair to a genre far too long ignored by the hoi polloi. With four part harmonies a blazing, The Nymphs’ vocal arrangements dish up a unique treat for today’s music lovers.
Equally adept at wringing tears from your eyes or laughs from your cockles, The Nymphs’ set list is a bejewelled bevy of sparkling gems. From the silly and sassy, to the sensitive and sorrowful, The Nymphs can cut like knives or soothe like a mamma’s touch with equal delicacy and finesse, all while keeping their pleats impeccably pressed.

With performances at festivals including Midsumma, Sustainable Living Festival, Queenscliff, Camden Haven and Get Vocal, and consistent appearances at venues across Melbourne, The Nymphs have certainly been busy. They have also teamed up with Brian Nankervis, Julia Zemiro and the Rockwiz Orkestra twice in 2011 for the Queensland Country Comfort Hour tour and the Rockwiz Christmas tour, which saw them playing to thousands of people all over the country.

At home on any stage, The Nymphs’ adaptability and ease of place has seen them regularly adorn local luminaries such as the rockin' Henry Wagons, bluesy Cash Savage and gypsy folk darlings The Tiger & Me. The Nymphs have also loaned their talents to a number of collaborations in the studio; notably as guest vocalists on Katie Underwood’s latest jazz infused opus Ain’t Nobody’s Baby and Cash Savage's heartbreaking 'Another Glass of Wine' (on killer album 'Wolf').

The Nymphs' performance on ABC’s music quiz show Spicks and Specks in 2010 caught the country’s attention. Their renditions of popular songs in the style of 40s acapella swing, took them from local Melbourne venues to living rooms across Australia. Their closing number, Metallica’s Enter Sandman in the style of The Chordettes Mr Sandman, roused international interest when the segment was posted online and snapped up by Metallica fans worldwide.

After a year of preparation, The Nymphs will release a 7" single early in 2013, followed by a full length album later in the year. 



Madeleine Hanover is an Australian composer, writing predominantly for piano. Her music is cinematic, ambient and free-flowing. Often improvising whole pieces, her music has an unmatched sense of energy and movement.
