In the stores they’re pushing packed sugars
That never used to interest me 
I’m into it now strictly to drown out the bad taste in my mouth 
I disregard an orange hard plastic top 
Sometimes it’s dark green 
There’s no difference in the liquid inside 
It rides a line between syrupy and smooth
Between robitussin and fresh water 
I pour around 2/3s of the bottle into a checkered gutter 
Then I take a plastic spoon I picked up from any convenience store and measure out one teaspoon of pressed leaf
The leaf can be red or green veined
Lately my body has become tolerant to red veined so I’ve been getting the green 
It’s called green vein but once it’s beat it has a pale complexion to it
It’s a fine powder like white beach sand 
You funnel the spoon into the mouth of the bottle and watch the hydrophobic powder clump in resistance 
Shake and wait
