With so many things hungry for our attention these days, it’s becoming harder and harder to keep our focus on one thing for any length of time. Time is not used efficiently because of constant interruptions of one kind or another. Even in the workplace, this is a big issue. It’s one thing to be distracted momentarily by a call or something else, but it’s another when you realize how much deeper the problem goes. People are becoming habitually distracted. This affects their communication, relationships, efficiency, the ability to get things done on time and probably many more issues. It’s become a worldwide pandemic.

What is ‘neurodiversity’ in the classroom and how should we respond to it?

The Teaching and Learning International Survey (otherwise known as TALIS) is a survey conducted every five years that asks teachers and school leaders from around the world about the working conditions and the learning environment in their schools. There have been two rounds of the survey so far, one in 2008 and one in 2013, with 50 countries scheduled to participate in the 2018 round of TALIS. We chat to Noémie Le Donné, an Analyst in the OECD's Directorate for Education and Skills, about how the survey works, what the results show us, and how the data affect the education world at large.
