EJA is the solo alias of one half of Duplicity, a London based label and podcast series. As Duplicity, EJA emerged onto the local Scottish scene in late 2019, playing at events around Edinburgh and Glasgow. Since the pandemic, EJA has refined his own sound and general approach, focusing on deep, hypnotic, groovy and loopy elements, largely inspired by artists such as Rene Wise, Setaoc Mass, DVS1, MARRØN, Kaiser and has been working on his own productions, with a growing arsenal of unreleased works and a few select releases which have so far been released on digital and vinyl through labels such as SOMA Records, Duplicity Records, .defaultbox & PRTLWRX. As Duplicity, EJA has spearheaded the label’s overall sound through careful curation of podcast guests & artists for the labels revered various artist releases.

Elata Series 002 w/ EJA

For my return to Open Ground, I had the idea to record my full set and post it online. Nothing can really describe that club, the sound system, the room accoustics, the way everything has been designed just breathes passion and dedication. Just amazing crew and always a treat to come back there.
The vibe there was absolutely amazing, and I guess you really just have to experience it on the spot to really get what it's like. 

But yea, here's the 3h30 journey we've embarked on there this 8th May, and I hope you enjoy it !

Born and raised in Germany up to the age of 13 before being uprooted and moved to the UK, Stephanie Sykes credits her Midlands coming of age with having instilled a deep love of electronic music in her. As well as making life-long friends in her northern milieu, it also pushed her to experiment more, and with this her creative passion quickly set her up as one of the UK’s most alluring talents. Fast-forward to today and for over a decade, she’s jumped from venue to venue with a highly developed personal sound that captivates in its 4/4 mastery. This rumbling techno has landed her a residency at Berlin staple Tresor, and gigs at a standard-issue list of big name venues in all four hemispheres. in case that didn’t suffice, she’s also got a growing number of releases to her name on publishers like BPitch, VENT, ://about blank and Tommy Four Seven’s 47 imprint. It’s techno with a simple mission, making people move. But don’t take anyone’s word for it, it’s best felt personally, and on a monster soundsystem if you can find it. Bassiani Podcast 213 is straight up techno, phlegmatically cool and tenacious in its course, an hour of swinging kick-drums and rubbery beats matched and mixed to perfection. A healthy measure of emancipating rhythms, signature Sykes through and through.

Cirkle is the 197th guest of our podcast series. The Greek DJ and producer has been active first as a DJ and then also as a producer for the better of two decades. Since, he has had numerous releases on labels such as SK_Eleven, Float Records, Deep Sea mining syndicate, Voltage and Dyad.

As these labels might suggest, his sound is often characterized by Deep thumping kick and base rythms, off-kilter stabs and synths and industrial feeling soundscapes.

Konstantin Popp ist ein Dj und Musikproduzent aus Berlin. Er ist hauptsächlich im Elektronischen Genre tätig und für seinen straighten Techno mit tiefen Basslines bekannt.
Durch die Band seines Vaters begann Sebastian schon früh, sich für Musik zu interessieren. Mit 4 Jahren beginnt er Klavier zu spielen und mit 9 Schlagzeug. So findet er zur Welt der modernen Musik und durch reges Interesse an Tontechnik, folgen mit 12 Jahren erste Experimente mit Synthesizern und Drum Machines. Auf diesem Weg fand Sebastian zur Elektronischen Musik. Mit 18 Jahren landet er dann in Berlin, beginnt eine Lehre als Veranstaltungstechniker und spezialisiert sich danach auf professionelle Beschallungs- und Tontechnik. Heute bespielt Sebastian Bühnen über die Grenzen von Deutschland hinaus und engagiert sich für die elektronische Undergroundszene in Berlin.
