After its outstanding reception following its initial release back in January, Wankelmut & Emma Louise's infectious single - 'My Head Is A Jungle' returns with a souped up package and is set to be released worldwide on 15TH September via Positiva. Heavily supported by BBC R1's Pete Tong, 'My Head Is A Jungle' was dubbed his 'Essential New Tune' back in February as well as receiving championing support from BBC R1's tastemaker Annie Mac. It comes as no surprise that the single is already platinum in Italy, top 30 in Germany (and rising) and top 5 airplay in South Africa!

Wankelmut who has mainly been deejaying in underground clubs in Berlin such as Sisyphos and MIKZ, became 'Newcomer of the Year' last year (GROOVE Magazine) and has been in high demand as both DJ and Remixer ever since. Wankelmut has a very entertaining and well crafted way of deejaying with a huge variety of styles from Deep House to Techno. Beside playing all over Europe he remixed Gossip, Jay Haze, Lukas Graham and various other underground records which established his status within the Techno House Scene. On his 24th birthday in December 2011 Wankelmut aka Jacob Dilßner uploaded his unofficial remix for Asaf Avidan's "Reckoning Song' to Soundcloud. More than one year later the now official remix has sold 1.3 Million copies on Sony/Columbia, scored over 100 Million Youtube Plays and entered the #1 spot in 8 european countries, as well as being the best-selling track on Beatport last year.

In cooperation with the talented Australian singer Emma-Louise, the duo deliver a finely tuned piece of melodic brilliance. Wankemut's faultless Tech-house production, and Emma-Louise's blissful vocals will have you instantly hooked and will be circling around your head for days to come. In addition to the supreme remix package from Gui Boratto, Kasper Bjorke and Solee, new remixes come from Friend Within, and Marc 'MK' Kinchen, who steps up to deliver one of his much loved MK edits which premiered last Friday on Pete Tong.

So there we are. Teenage years are over, the wild times are still ahead, though. Keinemusik turns twenty – all hands in the air! In celebration of this biographical moment of glory the whole crew is circling up in brotherly and sisterly embrace. Make an high-angle shot, what does it look like? Like a ring of course. So therefore youʼll find the signet ring on this picture discʼs A-side. 

The flip is tagged with what this symbol of companionship is leaving, once itʼs used properly. So thereʼs a signed and sealed big up to everyone who has supported keinemusik so far. No. 20 prettied itself up a bit and commends itself as a nice little collectorʼs item. Still as a decent spinning item as well, containing these pumping features: 

On A1 (aka the ring side) David Mayer opens up with “Machinedrum Calypso”, a relentless Tech-monster with classy percussive decoration, lurking single notes, malicious synths and a roller coaster ride of breaks and full tilt. Perfect opener! 

Next in line is “Think”, falling out of &MEʼs never failing machines. Initially, the kick tends to hide behind some cryptically cut vocal-scraps, but once itʼs grooving at full level, thereʼll be no dry corner left on the floor. Add some sub-bassy guts massage and some highly effective break-stuffing and you have a picture of this guyʼs current sure shot. 

The seal side contains another surprising new Adam Port-cut. “Burana” starts out as a funked out, crackling Disco-beat-skeleton, incorporates a tongue in cheek bassline and some offset hi-hats and once in a while is raising up to cloud nine of synth-paradise. Devoid of any vocal trace there is a potential secret favourite grooving from second row. 

Rampa is aiming for an unlike feisty spot landing for the grand finale. His “AY” offers microscopic fiddling on his percussive tribal rataplan and some decent feverish shaman dance. As a counterpart, he inserts an übercool bass into the background and if needed, an übercool bass into the foreground as well. One glimpse should show that ʻpeaktimeʼ is written all over this bitch.

Joining the Get Twisted Family with the first release of 2014 we welcome Marco Darko. With as run of releases on established labels Hot Waves, Mother & Nasty Funk, Marco has been gaining strong momentum into the new year.

Title track Devotion, typifies Marco’s love for disco and diva vocals. The brightness of the vocals balance perfectly with the darker underlying bassline. This leaves the track perfectly set up for the introduction of the house organ and drum roll, picking the pace of the track up perfectly for the movers and shakers on the dancefloor.

‘Good Enough’ is s a straight house groover from the get go. Chopped vocals, organs, stabs, high strings & some delicious drums are all in the layered perfectly to give a friendly but bumpy dance floor weapon.

Marco Darko - Devotion [Get Twisted Records] Out Jan 20th

It's fair to say that Vince Watson is a true unsung hero of house and techno. The Glasgow born producer and DJ has been making genre-defining and genre-bending records for almost 20 years, with highly celebrated releases on labels such as Planet E, Tresor, Delsin, Ibadan and his own Bio Music. 

Now living in Amsterdam, Planet Funk is Vince's first outing on Poker Flat. The lead track is a confident slice of twisted machine funk, highly charged yet otherworldly in atmosphere - as the title suggests.

Luna City Express' Marco Resmann takes his remix into deeper territories, yet maintains the crisp, full production vales of the original nicely. 

Watson's control over tension and dynamics is exceptional, and he exhibits this again on 'Paradise' - an elegant tech house bomb that interweaves multiple complex elements yet remains singularly affecting. 

'Free Yourself' hints at Watson's love for ambience and electronica - a thoughtful trip into the outer reaches that will sound just as good on a beach at sunrise as in the headphones in the darkest hours of winter.

Much Too Much

Leftroom Limited turn to long time associate Inxec and Mark Jenkyns for its next release, which is yet again a freaky bit of inventive late night tech with ghoulish charm and shadow intentions. The two originals come backed with typically excellent remixes from master of the night Konrad Black and Canadian Hrdvsion.

As an ever rising talent with an ability not yet fully blossomed, Inxec produces music from his beloved house right through to heart breaking, thought inspiring mood sections for national radio plays in Germany. Meanwhile, Mark Jenkyns’ natural understanding of the dancefloor coupled with his impulsive methods to spark it into action have enabled him to garner a reputation as both a forward thinking producer and immersive DJ releasing on labels like Hot Creations.

The first track the pair turn out is ‘Broken Wings’, a slinky bit of tech with rooted, hard hitting kicks and engaging percussive clicks. A filtered vocal speaks about phenomenal outrage and gurgling synths always bubble up through the mix. Then an acid line appears next to the pixelated chords and the track really takes off, as will the roof of the right club whenever this one gets deployed.

Two on point remixes then tackle the track: Konrad Black – of labels like Culprit, City Fox and M_nus – layers in plenty of bleepy, blurting synth sounds as he threads his minimal grooves through a freaky filter. Dark, weird and heady, it’s prime afterparty material.

Wagon Repair and Rinse associated Hrdvision is next with his sinewy, synthetic and hugely orchestrated remix. Acid lines, sharp synths, rueful pads and more all form a network of lines that drag you ever deeper into their core.

Inxec & Mark Jenkyns then team up again to round out the EP with ‘Ride It’, This one is another spangled bit of raw machine music with loose, spraying synths, thick basslines and alien life forms all scurrying around a hunched over groove that makes it perfect for dark and druggy backrooms.

Once again here Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom Limited label has come up with the goods.

Since we like to bring people together and are always eager to hear new combinations of talent, we have the honor of witnessing Florian team up with another family member, Mr Kevin Knapp, of recent Hot Creations fame, who delights us again both with his freshly honed production skills and with his perfect voice in yet another couple club pleasers.
"The Block" is a heavy drum jacker, with a grooving bassline and deep overall vibe topped with a cool synth stab progression where Kevin gets on the mic with a combination of inspired rappin and speech stabs that turn a track into a whole trip experience. 

On a similar synth driven tip "Home" gets more of Mr Knapps rap licks and a very phat bubbly analog bass action for great effect. 
Florian and Kevin seemed to have struck a balance both as CO-Producers and as mates that is evident in their music productions.

To wrap up the package we brought Defected's established underground hit makers Flashmob from Italy for remix duties, and they truly delivered turning around "The Block" into a raw drum machine chicago inspired acidic track.

A killer release by some of the industries most respected names, can't be missed!

Mat.Joe sure had an impressive breakthrough ride last year including worldwide recognition, endless touring schedule and an impressive catalogue of tracks and remixes including acclaimed eps in OFF which quickly scouted them as core artists. 2014 started as busy as expected for the Berlin duo, with tracks and remixes in Suara, Stil Von Talent and our own 5 year talent compilation. Hot as they are, we thought this was a good time for another EP, and they delivered an impressive pair of floor movers with their usual versatility and good taste.
"Way Too Bad" shows their sampling skills with a rolling groove full of soul that swirls nicely over funky drums and a killer bassline. 

On the b side, "Brighton Beach" shows a deeper, thoughtful escapade, with synth keys and arpeggios slilding into a big boom bass creating an uplifting vibe for a very special time in the night. 

Both tracks capture the essence of Mat.Joe while being perfect tools for different moments and feelings. Another true gem from the OFF camp!
