Section X Kumarachi 'Under The Eye' [Locked Up Music]

J-Path and WX team up once more for the latest CONFUCIAN release.
The Seoul-based label is at the forefront of the South Korean drum and bass scene, and is rapidly acquiring an international reputation for signing quality tunes from the deeper end of the genre.

Both artists have released extensively on the label (WX - AKA Wet Xeomi - has also released under the Xeomi alias and recently signed music to ProgRAM), and have managed to refine a distinctive minimal sound over time. Their latest release, inspired by images of abandoned ruins lost to the desert sands, is testament to this.

Dust Digger opens with a vast and expansive soundscape; glimmering arpeggios, arid pads, and an encroaching dissonance which dissipates before a skippy kick and warped, distorted bassline drive the track forwards. Elements from the introduction are periodically reintroduced, resulting in an ethereal-yetgroovy minimal stepper.

Conversely, Descendants of Filth is driven by off-kilter syncopated snares and kicks. Neuro-drived bass sound design fuse with complex synthetic drum patterns to produce a futuristic piece of hybrid jungle. 

Layers of pads, counter-melodies, and a continual evolving soundscape ensures that the track captures the feeling of an adventure into ancient and unknown lands. 

The two artists convincingly piece together an artistic project and repurpose their source material through the medium of drum and bass music.
