Planet Asia may be two decades deep in the rap game, but he clearly isn’t ready to slow down anytime soon. After releasing a well received collaborative LP, Anchovies with Detroit producer, Apollo Brown just a few months ago, the Fresno emcee is back with an ill new single, “Tha Movement,” featuring Chace Infinite, Innate, and Bumps.

Backed by the ethereal funk from producer Genetix, the four emcees are on their no-hook steez as they kick crazy wordplay and bravado-centric bars. Of course, it’s not all braggadocio, because “Tha Movement” plays out like a battlecry for ensuring that Hip-Hop never loses its way. But if you listen to this joint without rewinding certain bars—”Rap addict like crack habit, you can’t hack it/ Half-average cats on the map?/ Yeah, the fact’s backwards”—then you’re playing yourself.

As Planet Asia says on his verse, “Motherf*ckers better respect it,” especially when they get to hear him and Chace Infinite go back-to-back. The Self Scientific rapper may have his hands full managing A$AP Rocky, but he’s clearly still got the chops to deliver a blistering alley-oop to PA, who closes the track in high form.

Just hours after the relaunch of Payday Records, the iconic record label has released its first song “Our Streets” featuring legendary producer DJ Premier and A$AP Ferg, which is available today via digital retailers everywhere. “Our Streets” is the first song released by hip-hop and EDM pioneer Patrick Moxey’s newly relaunched record label. DJ Premier is reunited with former Gang Starr manager Moxey as the first artist to release music on Payday Records. 

“Our Streets” is a true New York hip-hop track, combining DJ Premier’s signature beats and A$AP Ferg’s versatile style to create a classic, raw and energetic sound. The song marks the first time the legendary DJ and rap star have worked together, despite both being prominent figures of the New York hip-hop scene for years. 

“It's a dream to be able to work with the legendary DJ Premier on this record” stated Ferg. “Preemo has worked with all the NYC hip hop icons and greats - Nas, Biggie, Guru, Hov, KRS-one, and The Lox. Just knowing I was working with him pushed me as an MC.” 

"With Ferg, or anybody I work with, they already know my history so they know that I come from the 90s era” DJ Premier said. “Ferg just automatically said 'Don't do what I've been doing on my albums - I want you to do a Preemo style and let me show I can rap to that,' so I was like 'let's do it.' Everybody was happy off jump - no suggestions, no 'I think we should go this direction' - it was an automatic in, out, done, in one day." 

“Our Streets” is available now, and is the first song released by the newly relaunched Payday Records. Patrick Moxey, who is the President and Founder of Ultra Records, Ultra Music and Ultra International Music Publishing, originally formed Payday Records in New York City in 1992. Payday was the first record label to sign Jay Z, releasing his first single “In My Lifetime” in 1995. Other artists signed to Payday throughout the 90s include Jeru the Damaja, Mos Def (via his first group U.T.D.), Showbiz & A.G., Group Home, Guru, WC and the Maad Circle and more. DJ Premier played an integral role in Payday throughout the 1990s, bringing artists like hip-hop duo Group Home and rapper Jeru the Damaja to Payday for release, and producing a number of the label’s biggest hits including “Come Clean,” and “Supa Star.”

Since his freshman class, Fred has gone on to record with a who’s who of hip-hop. Some of the artists appearing on his projects or having him appear on their projects include: Kevin Gates, Diddy, Meek Mill, Jadakiss, The Game, Fat Joe, Raekwon, Pusha-T, French Montana, Erick Sermon, Keith Murray and many more. He has even been tapped to appear on the “25/8 (Remix)” from the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige.

YouTube videos in which Fred The Godson appears or performs as a featured artist have been viewed over a combined fifty million times. On datpiff alone, Fred The Godson’s mixtapes have been downloaded over a million times and streamed over twelve and a half million times to date.

A staple on the New York hip-hop scene, Fred The Godson frequently appears on radio shows on Hot 97 with Funkmaster Flex as well as DJ Enuff, The Breakfast Club on Power 105, and Sway In The Morning on Sirius Radio.

Fred The Godson’s latest effort, the mixtape “Gordo” featured New York mainstays Dave East, Jim Jones, Joelle Ortiz, Vado and Jaquae. The project has been streamed over three million times and downloaded over thirty thousand times. 

His recent freestyle video with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex has a combined 12 million views with over two hundred thousand shares on social media.

His current single “Special Love” features hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross and will be featured on his upcoming EP entitled “GODLEVEL” to be released later in 2018.
