Ralph Rodriguez, aka Ralph Session, is a New York City DJ and producer whose blend of New York and Chicago house style has gained support over the years from the likes of Jimpster, Mr. V, Cinthie, Oliver Dollar, Laurent Garnier and many more.

2024 has already been a big year for Ralph seeing him release on a dreamy line up of House labels. Highlights include Local Talk, Freerange with Juliet Mendoza, Quintessentials and now it's time to join the SlothBoogie crew for the Late Night Madness EP.

The EP starts off with Madness… a moody late night burner unveiling this release dedicated to classic house sounds. Deep chords and driving percussion swirl and build into a G-funk breakdown and bubbling synth tones.

You Are Here keeps the twilight vibes going and takes us on a seductive trip with chopped up jazzy loops, crackling drums and hushed vocals. A perfect love letter to the haze of the afters.

Finally on Against The Clock Ralph ratchets up the energy and heads for the peak time with powerful piano stabs and a strutting bassline guaranteed to make you move.

Mike and Danny Parton recently launched this label with a superb first EP that laid out a fantastic sonic vision. It is where they will showcase their love of artful sampling and passion for crafting celebratory sounds. They have been doing so for years while drawing on '90s house, French touch, disco and funk across a series of classy outings on plenty of top European labels, and this is another fresh modern take on all that history. 

Danny gets things underway with 'Orange Juice', a thumping and peak time house slammer that washes over you as a potent wall of sound made from swirling vocals, sharp percussive details and textured chords that demand hand go skyward. 'Hotspot' has more funk in its lines, with loopy drums and horn stabs blasting out over a freewheeling bass loop. Smart filters keep things dynamic, and more impassioned vocal cries and stabs mean the track brims with energy. 

Mike then steps up with an equally brilliant brace, starting with 'Don't Look My Name', which taps into '90s US vibes and the steamy, loopy intensity of legends like Armin Van Helden. The drums are bold, the synths are loud in the mix, and the vocal samples bring just enough human heat to set things off. Last but not least, 'Free As A Bird' is an emotional banger with heart-tugging vocal hooks and punchy house funk finished in style with bass twangs and big strings. Glorious stuff.

Incoming for the second release on House Music label Ascension on Wax, AoW’s co-founder Lavan is dropping his ‘For The Love EP.’ This raw, authentic, party-ready release is arguably his best to date and pushes the purity of the old-school house music sound, whilst bringing it into the present. Lavans notorious usage of MPC sampling and borrowed synthesisers is flowing throughout the release alongside gorgeous jazz elements. Hydro-trip specialist Black Eyes closes the EP with a subterranean, downtempo roller of a remix which gives a nod to the iconic Detroit sound championed by the late Mike Huckaby amongst many others.

'For The Love EP' follows Lavan’s ‘It’s Happening EP’ on SlothBoogie released earlier in 2024 and his feature in DJ Mag’s emerging artists section. This is a gentleman who is proving his dedication to his craft.

Madrid-based producer/DJ GAZZI reveals the second single 'Diving In Clouds' taken from his forthcoming EP via Parisian label Ano Ano.

‘Diving Clouds’ is straight up hot-to-the-touch dancefloor fire. In true GAZZI style, we’re given a busy, loopy 4x4 beat laced groove with delicious percussion, elevated through expansive vocals and synths. An off-kilter, fuzzy, raw synth seeps its way into every corner of the track, providing a sinister growl in the low end that’s matched by a smooth, R&B-style vocal at the high end of the frequency.

GAZZI, the musical alias of Pablo Jiménez, proudly hails from Linares, Jaén in the historical community of Andalusia near Spain. Saying that, his sound would make you think he was a regular at FWD night in London. Heavily influenced by the founders of that sound, the likes of Burial, Four Tet et al. His music blends post-dubstep, UK bass, deep house, and breakbeat. Now based in Madrid, GAZZI has performed at top venues like Nitsa and festivals such as Sonár and Primavera Sound, where in 2022 he performed his first ever Boiler Room set.

If you’re not yet aware of the rising, rousing sound of GAZZI, the ‘Tus Ojos’ EP is a fine place to start. Be aware, though - this will not be the last you hear from this talented Andalusian artist.
